Analysis of Inherent Irreversibility in a Variable Viscosity MHD Generalized Couette Flow with Permeable Walls

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2013
The inherent irreversibility in a variable viscosity hydromagnetic generalized Couette flow with suction/injection at the walls has been investigated theoretically.

The combined effect of variable viscosity and variable thermal conductivity on natural convection couette flow

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermofluids, 2020
The present work analyses the combined effects of variable viscosity and thermal conductivity on fluid flow and thermodynamics in a vertical channel. Equations of energy and momentum that describe the flow situation are solved using Homotopy perturbation

Investigation of Oxygen‐Free Wetting Behavior of Aluminum on Copper via Molecular Dynamics Simulations and Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The wettability of aluminum droplets (Al) on different copper substrates (Cu), where liquid Al spreads on solid Cu surfaces to form a liquid–solid interface, is studied numerically and experimentally. The experimental and numerical results show good agreement in the fast‐spreading regime.

Analysis of Entropy Generation Rate in an Unsteady Porous Channel Flow with Navier Slip and Convective Cooling

open access: yesEntropy, 2013
This study deals with the combined effects of Navier Slip, Convective cooling, variable viscosity, and suction/injection on the entropy generation rate in an unsteady flow of an incompressible viscous fluid flowing through a channel with permeable walls.

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

BENCHMARK SOLUTIONS FOR STOKES EQUATIONS WITH VARIABLE VISCOSITY IN CYLINDRICAL AND SPHERICAL COORDINATES [PDF]

open access: yesНаучно-технический вестник информационных технологий, механики и оптики, 2016
Stokes flows in cylindrical and spherical geometry are considered. Such flows are rather natural for geophysics. We derive some exact particular solutions of Stokes and continuity equations for particular dependence of viscosity and density on ...

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Effects of Shear Dependent Viscosity and Variable Thermal Conductivity on the Flow and Heat Transfer in a Slurry

open access: yesEnergies, 2015
In this paper we study the effects of variable viscosity and thermal conductivity on the heat transfer in the pressure-driven fully developed flow of a slurry (suspension) between two horizontal flat plates.

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,
