Abstract This narrative review summarizes the collective knowledge on periodontal microbiology, through a historical timeline that highlights the European contribution in the global field. Abstract This narrative review celebrates Europe's contribution to the current knowledge on systemically administered antimicrobials in periodontal treatment.
