Overproduction of gamma-aminobutyric acid and increased antioxidant capacity by Lactiplantibacillus pentosus TEJ4 through optimization by response surface methodology

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Investigaciones Agroindustriales
Lactic Acid bacteria (LAB) are the main producers of bioactive compounds (peptides, exopolysaccharides, antioxidant compounds, gamma-aminobutyric acid-GABA, etc.).

Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

Malformin A1–mediated cytotoxicity in ovarian cancer cells occurs through pyroptosis and autophagy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated the effects of the natural compound Malformin A1 (MA1) on the cytoskeleton that regulates cell proliferation and migration. Disruption of the cytoskeleton can impair these processes and promote cancer cell death. MA1 disrupted cytoskeletal organization, induced DNA damage, inflammation, activated autophagy, and pyroptosis ...

Evaluating the effect of γ‐oryzanol on MASLD pathology using a medaka fish model

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores a liver disease called MASLD, which is increasing worldwide and can lead to serious damage. Researchers used medaka fish instead of rodents to test a food compound, γ‐oryzanol. Fish fed this compound had less liver fat and healthier gut bacteria.

GelMA‐based 3D spheroids recapitulate transcriptomic and functional hallmarks of myeloid sarcoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
GelMA 5% hydrogels support the formation of myeloid leukemia spheroids that recapitulate MS‐specific features, including G1 arrest, apoptosis, and ECM‐driven transcriptomic reprogramming. The 3D model mimicked soft‐tissue‐like stiffness and oxygen conditions, and transcriptomic convergence with primary MS samples confirmed its utility as a preclinical ...

Early warning signs for tipping points in systems with non-Gaussian $$\alpha$$ -stable noise

open access: yesScientific Reports
Forecasting rapid, non-linear change or so-called tipping points is a major concern in ecology and environmental science. Statistical early warning signs, based on the theory of stochastic dynamical systems, are now regularly applied to observational ...

Using cell‐free RNA to identify B‐ and T‐cell clonality for diagnosis and monitoring of B‐ and T‐cell neoplasms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using peripheral blood for determining B‐cell or T‐cell clonality is more reliable when we use cell‐free RNA (cfRNA) because cells release blood significantly more RNA than DNA. Next‐generation sequencing (NGS) of cfRNA allows us to evaluate fragment cfRNA and evaluate clonality reliably without the need for prior determination of the specific dominant

An Efficient Numerical Method for Pricing Levy Option Models : With Variance Gamma Process

open access: yesJournal of Derivatives and Quantitative Studies, 2007
We study an efficient numerical method for pricing European options when the dynamics of the underlying asset are described by Levy processes. In this case. we can write a characteristic function solution for a specific Levy option model and then take its inversion numerically.

Structural and biochemical insights into the thermostable esterase Ta0887 from Thermoplasma acidophilum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, a novel esterase from the thermoacidophilic archaeon Thermoplasma acidophilum was biochemically and structurally characterized. Our results demonstrate that Ta0887 is a highly thermostable esterase that preferentially hydrolyzes p‐nitrophenyl hexanoate and possesses an α‐helical cap domain that likely contributes to its substrate ...

Variance-Driven U-Net Weighted Training and Chroma-Scale-Based Multi-Exposure Image Fusion

open access: yesMathematics
Multi-exposure image fusion (MEF) aims to generate a well-exposed image by combining multiple photographs captured at different exposure levels. However, deep learning-based approaches are often highly dependent on the quality of the training data, which
