Mathematical model for studying genetic variation in terms of restriction endonucleases.
A mathematical model for the evolutionary change of restriction sites in mitochondrial DNA is developed. Formulas based on this model are presented for estimating the number of nucleotide substitutions between two populations or species.

Although great efforts have been made to decrease nutrient (notably nitrogen and phosphorus) loads and lighten related environmental damages, coastal eutrophication remains a persistent environmental crisis.

This contribution presents derivative-based methods for local sensitivity analysis, called Variational Sensitivity Analysis (VSA). If one defines an output called the response function, its sensitivity to inputs variations around a nominal value can be studied using derivative (gradient) information.

dbSNP: the NCBI database of genetic variation
In response to a need for a general catalog of genome variation to address the large-scale sampling designs required by association studies, gene mapping and evolutionary biology, the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) has established ...

The facility was far uptown. We all dozed off during the long ride, and by the time the train lurched into the station, we were groggy. Though we were not native New Yorkers, three years in the city was enough to develop that uncanny ability to emerge from sleep just before missing your stop ...

Typing Context-Dependent Behavioural Variation [PDF]
Context Oriented Programming (COP) concerns the ability of programs to adapt to changes in their running environment. A number of programming languages endowed with COP constructs and features have been developed. However, some foundational issues remain
