Progress, challenges, and future steps in data assimilation for convection‐permitting numerical weather prediction: Report on the virtual meeting held on 10 and 12 November 2021

open access: yesAtmospheric Science Letters, Volume 24, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
We report on a meeting on progress and challenges in convection‐permitting data assimilation. Novel developments include the assimilation of novel observations such as cloud‐affected satellite radiances, ground‐based profiling networks and aircraft data, as well as methodological advancements in error covariance modelling, and progress in operational ...

How Do Glycine‐Induced Bent Structures Influence Hierarchical Nanostructuring and Suprastructural Handedness in Short Peptide Assembly?

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
How does flexible and achiral glycine affect suprastructural handedness in peptide self‐assembly? A series of short peptides containing glycine is designed, and different molecular conformations caused by varying the position of glycine can lead to different hydrogen bonding patterns upon forming β‐sheets, eventually resulting in variations in their ...

On the lithium abundance of the visual binary components ξ Boo A (G8V) and ξ Boo B (K5V)

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 343, Issue 9-10, November-December 2022., 2022
Abstract A spectroscopic investigation of the lithium resonance doublet in ξ Boo A and ξ Boo B in terms of both abundance and isotopic ratio is presented. We obtained new R = 130,000 spectra with a signal‐to‐noise ratio (S/N) per pixel of up to 3200 using the 11.8 m LBT and PEPSI.

4D Biofabrication of Magnetically Augmented Callus Assembloid Implants Enables Rapid Endochondral Ossification via Activation of Mechanosensitive Pathways

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetically augmented biohybrid cartilaginous microtissues enable remote microtissue motion control and assembly as well as targeted differentiation. This study demonstrates accelerated endochondral ossification under magnetic stimulation, highlighting cartilaginous assembloid constructs’ ability to retain long‐term magnetic properties.

Contributions of structural variations to the asymptotic mixed‐mode coupling Factor in red giant stars

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 343, Issue 9-10, November-December 2022., 2022
Abstract The advent of ultra‐precise photometry space missions enables the possibility of investigating stellar interiors with mixed modes. The structural variations induced by the discontinuity of the chemical composition left behind during the first dredge–up is an important feature in the stellar mid‐layers located between the hydrogen‐burning shell

Deep‐UV Light‐Emitting Based on the hBN:S/hBN: Mg Homojunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
S‐atoms are selected as donor dopants to achieve the n‐type conductivity of the hBN film. A theoretical model of S‐doping hBN using DFT calculation and experimentally prepared S‐doped hBN multilayers with a recorded doping concentration of 1.21% is established.

Advanced Solid Lubrication with COK‐47: Mechanistic Insights on the Role of Water and Performance Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study is the first to report the solid lubrication performance of the newly discovered Ti‐based MOF (COK‐47) powder. COK‐47 exhibits a remarkably lowest and most stable coefficient of friction compared to typical solid lubricants. The lubrication mechanism involves water molecules from the air participating in tribochemical reactions, forming an ...

A Bias‐Tunable Multispectral Photodetector Based on a GaN/TexSe1‐x Homo‐Type Heterojunction with a Unidirectional Barrier

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A bias‐tunable multispectral photodetector based on a TexSe1‐x/GaN homo‐type heterojunction with a unidirectional barrier is proposed. By modulating the bias polarity and magnitude, the device's spectral response range can be extended from UV to the SWIR region.

A Versatile Protein Scaffold Engineered for the Hierarchical Assembly of Robust and Highly Active Enzymes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a self‐assembling protein scaffold engineered from Methanococcus jannaschii via disulfide bonds, enabling efficient in vivo assembly of bulky enzymes into helical structures without conjugation. Direct fusion increased the activity and thermostability of both monomeric and multimeric guest enzymes.
