Detecting Thunderstorm‐Related High‐Energy Phenomena in Weak Signals
Abstract Gamma‐ray glows (GRGs) are high‐energy events associated with thunderstorms, characterized by an enhancement of the high‐energy background radiation lasting from a few seconds to several minutes. They are typically detected near their sources by balloons, aircraft, mountain‐based observatories, or at sea level in regions where thunderstorms ...

Abstract Wildfires emit significant greenhouse gases and pollutants. Extreme fires disperse smoke plumes over long distances, necessitating a deeper understanding of their source regions and variability. This study introduces a plume back‐trajectory algorithm using carbon monoxide (CO) and peroxyacetyl nitrate satellite observations from the Infrared ...

Spatial Variations in Vitreous Oxygen Consumption
We investigated the spatial variation of vitreous oxygen consumption in enucleated porcine eyes. A custom made oxygen source was fabricated that could be localized to either the mid or posterior vitreous cavity and steady state vitreous oxygen tension was measured as a function of distance from the source using a commercially available probe.

Meridional Dipole in Eddy Activity Along Peruvian Coast During Eastern Pacific El Niño Events
Abstract Mesoscale oceanic eddies (O $O$(100)km) play a key role in regulating climate by affecting the transport of heat and water mass properties. However, most climate models struggle to simulate these eddies due to coarse horizontal resolution. Using a 120‐year ultra‐high‐resolution simulation with 1/10° ${}^{\circ}$ horizontal ocean resolution ...

First high-resolution look at the quiet Sun with ALMA at 3 mm [PDF]
We present an overview of high resolution quiet Sun observations, from disk center to the limb, obtained with the Atacama Large mm and sub-mm Array (ALMA) at 3 mm. Seven quiet Sun regions were observed with resolution of up to 2.5" by 4.5".

Sudden Ionospheric Disturbances Generated by Solar Flares—Not so Sudden?
Abstract It is known that solar flares generate instantaneous ionization enhancement, referred to as sudden ionospheric disturbance (SID), that occurs simultaneously across the entire dayside. In this work, we use high‐rate 1‐s data of total electron content (TEC) to analyse ionospheric response to 13 solar flares that occurred in 2003–2023.

ABSTRACT Food security in Kerala depends on effective irrigation, but poor‐quality irrigation water poses threats such as salinity, sodicity and reduced soil productivity. Although past assessments have been localised, this study presents the first comprehensive, statewide evaluation of irrigation water suitability across 44 major rivers in Kerala.

Deriving the radial distances of wide coronal mass ejections from elongation measurements in the heliosphere - Application to CME-CME interaction [PDF]
We present general considerations regarding the derivation of the radial distances of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) from elongation angle measurements such as those provided by SECCHI and SMEI, focusing on measurements in the Heliospheric Imager 2 (HI-2)
