EQC

open access: yesProceedings of the 49th Annual International Symposium on Computer Architecture, 2022
Variational quantum algorithm (VQA), which is comprised of a classical optimizer and a parameterized quantum circuit, emerges as one of the most promising approaches for harvesting the power of quantum computers in the noisy intermediate scale quantum (NISQ) era.

Multistate transition dynamics by strong time-dependent perturbation in NISQ era

open access: yesJournal of Physics Communications, 2023
We develop a quantum computing scheme utilizing McLachlan variational principle in a hybrid quantum–classical algorithm to accurately calculate the transition dynamics of a closed quantum system with many excited states subject to a strong time-dependent

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Variational Quantum Algorithm Parameter Tuning with Estimation of Distribution Algorithms

open access: yes2023 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC), 2023
Variational quantum algorithms (VQAs) are hybrid approaches between classical and quantum computation, where a classical optimizer proposes parameter configurations for a quantum parametric circuit which is iteratively sampled. The overall performance of the algorithm depends on how the classical optimizer tunes the parameters of the quantum circuit ...

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Photonic processor benchmarking for variational quantum process tomography

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
We present a quantum-analogous experimental demonstration of variational quantum process tomography using an optical processor. This approach leverages classical one-hot encoding and unitary decomposition to perform the variational quantum algorithm on a

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.
