Automatic Fit of the Variogram

2010 Third International Conference on Information and Computing, 2010
The automatic fit of the experimental variogram is a difficult problem of geostatistics. In order to solve the fitting problem, an improved linear programming method is presented in this paper. In combination with the advantages of weighted polynomial method and linear programming method, the new method uses the inverse of lag distance as weight ...

The Variogram and Kriging

2009
Spatial statistics and geostatistics have developed to describe and analyze the variation in both natural and man-made phenomena on, above or below the land surface. Spatial statistics includes any of the formal techniques that study entities that have a spatial index (Cressie 1993).

Cross-Validation and Variogram Estimation

Theory of Probability & Its Applications, 1993
One of the methods used for the interpolation of spatially correlated data is known as kriging, which is a regression technique. Consider a model of the form \(Z(x)\), a random function defined in \(p\)-dimensional space satisfying a weak stationarity condition as follows: \[ \begin{aligned} & E[Z(x + h) - Z(x)] = 0 \text{ for all } x, h;\tag\text{i}\\

Fast variogram computation with FFT

Computers & Geosciences, 1996
Abstract Two programs are presented to compute direct- and cross-variograms, direct and cross-covariograms, and pseudo-cross-variograms. The programs are written in MATLAB and are based on the Fast Fourier Transform algorithm (FFT). The programs accept complete, or incomplete, regular grid data.
