Petrochemical and Rb-Sr, K-Ar and Sm-Nd isotopic data presented for the Mitterteich granite provide information on whole rock and mineral compositional characteristics, intrusion and cooling history, and protolith nature and put further constraints on the Variscan magmatic evolution in north-east Bavaria.

Chemical character of Variscan granites of the Saxo-Thuringian Zone
2015The Saxo-Thuringian Zone includes an Autochthonous Domain that was little affected by the Variscan orogeny and an Allochthonous Domain that includes Variscan high- strain and high-grade rocks. The two domains became juxtaposed against each other during the final stages of the Variscan orogeny along the Wrench-and-Thrust Zone.

Post-collisional late variscan granites of southern Sardinia: evidences of contrasting suites
2016The Sardinia portion of the Sardinia-Corsica batholith emplaced mostly during the post collisional evolution of the Variscan chain. The majority of plutons emplaced in about 40 Ma during two phases, the older of which clustered at about 310 Ma, whereas the younger, clustered in the range of 290 Ma.The former is dominated by monzogranitic and ...

THE LATE VARISCAN FERROAN GRANITE MAGMATISM OF SOUTHERN SARDINIA: INFERENCES FROM Mo METALLOGENESIS
2017Metallogeny is a powerful tool to investigate crustal evolution; a good example is offered by the Variscan basement of Sardinia and its Mo deposits. Mo ores are poorly represented in Variscan metallogenic provinces of Europe: however, in Sardinia, numerous small Mo deposits, often associated to Sn, W and F ores, are present, invariably related to an ...
