Analysis of MOA Damage Mechanism Under Multiple Strokes

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Accident records from the actual operation of metal oxide arresters (MOAs) indicate that even MOA products that have passed standard tests still suffer from frequent damage.

Two basic ways to realise DC circuit breakers

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
As a key element of the DC grid, the technology of DC circuit breakers (DCCBs) still have difficulty to be widely used due to its large cost and volume. This paper studies the basic principle and its realisation methods for DCCBs.

Electrical properties of ZnO varistors prepared by direct mixing of constituent phases [PDF]

open access: yesScience of Sintering, 2006
Varistor samples containing different amounts of constituent phases were prepared by direct mixing of constituent phases. Detailed electrical characterization was performed to explain the influence of minor phases (spinel and intergranular phases) on ...

Study on temperature rise prediction of ZnO varistors under multiple lightning strikes based on BP neural network and microscopic

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes
ZnO varistors are widely used in the field of lightning protection. After being struck by lightning, ZnO varistors absorb heat, which can lead to temperature rise and even damage, posing a serious safety threat to electrical safety.

Data-Driven Matching Methodology for Enhanced MOV Current Sharing in DC Solid-State Circuit Breakers

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society
Metal oxide varistors (MOVs) are widely used as the energy absorption branch in DC solid-state circuit breakers (SSCBs), but reliable operation requires predictable current and energy sharing among paralleled MOV discs. This article proposes a low-effort,

The Role of Polypyrrole in Electrical Properties of ZnO-Polymer Composite Varistors [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2017
Composite films on the base of ZnO with different weight percentages of polypyrrole have been prepared using the hot pressing method and their current-voltage characteristics have been studied. Results show that the films have nonlinear varistor behavior

Caracterização elétrica de blocos varistores à base de SnO2 Electrical characteristics of SnO2-based varistor blocks

A modelling approach to describe the DC current-voltage behaviour of low-voltage zinc oxide varistors

open access: yesOpen Ceramics, 2021
Zinc oxide varistors are among the most important surge arresters. The current-voltage (I–V) behaviour of these devices can be approximated by a model of electrical networks of grain boundaries arranged in 3D space, where nonlinear resistors mimic the ...

Control of Varistor Voltage by Grain-size Control of Bi-added ZnO Varistors

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2011
Relationship between the grain size of ZnO and the amounts of Bi and Sb for Bi-Ba-Sb-Co-Mn-added ZnO was investigated. The amount of Bi at which the grain size of ZnO became the maximum shifted to the notably larger one by adding small amount of Sb such as 0.01 mol%.

Influência de dopantes doadores na degradação do varistor à base de SnO2 e o efeito do oxigênio pós-degradação nfluence of donor dopants on the degradation of SnO2 -based varistors and the effect of the oxygen post-degradation
