Nature and Characteristics of a Voltage-Biased Varistor and its Embedded Transistor
An unorthodox approach for producing simple and yet practical transistors based on ceramic platforms is discussed in this paper. To achieve this, we modify the original nonlinear current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of a varistor by superimposing a ...

A three-dimensional model of the varistor device is proposed. The thermal and electric conductivity of the material are taken to depend, in addition to the electric potential, on the temperature. Two theorems of existence and uniqueness of solutions for the boundary-value problem which determine the potential and the temperature inside the device are ...

Structure of a Novel Spinel Li0.5Zn5/3Sb2.5/3O4 by Neutron and Synchrotron Diffraction Analysis
Zn7/3Sb2/3O4 is a secondary phase in ZnO-based varistors. Acceptor impurities, such as Li+, increase the resistivity. This effect is produced by a modification of the grain boundary barriers.

The abnormal expansion associated with the simultaneous synthesis and sintering of Zn2SnO4 from ZnO and SnO2 is due to the reaction mechanism and correlated with the conversion. This phenomenon opens the way to manufacture porous ceramics without the addition of pore generators, simplifying the process, and especially the thermal treatment.

ABSTRACT When the surge arrester is subjected to the working voltage for an extended period, it undergoes alternating current (AC) aging, which degrades the arrester's parameters and affects the safety of the power grid. Ni2O3 is an important additive in the ZnO varistor formulation, and its doping ratio significantly influences the performance of the ...

A Compact Air‐Cooled Totally‐Enclosed Integrated Motor Drive for Industrial Applications
This work presents a totally‐enclosed fan‐cooled integrated motor drive for industrial applications, in which the power converter is housed inside the motor and cooled using the existing fan, with a focus on the thermal behaviour and integration challenges. Using loss models and a combination of finite‐element and lumped‐parameter thermal analysis on a
