A suggestive case report of posterior “Nutcracker syndrome” at computed tomography, and review of the literature

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports
“Nutcracker syndrome” (NCS), also called left renal vein (LRV) entrapment syndrome, is a rare vascular compression disorder referring to extrinsic compression of the LRV by the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) anteriorly and the abdominal aorta (Ao ...

Temporary bronchial stenting for airway compression in the interstage palliation of functional single ventricle

open access: yesAnnals of Pediatric Cardiology, 2019
The Norwood procedure is the first of three palliative surgical procedures offered for hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). Due to the small size of the thorax and proximity of airway and vascular structures, compression of the airway is possible ...

A critical reappraisal of the carotid sinus and carotid bulb: Distinguishing neurohistological function from vascular geometry

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
This review redefines the carotid bulb (CB) as a variable geometric dilation shaped by hemodynamics and the carotid sinus (CS) as a conserved neurohistological baroreceptor field. Distinguishing these entities clarifies a century of anatomical confusion and links geometry, neurohistology, and clinical interpretation within a unified framework ...

Integrated Clinical and Proteomic Profiling of CD19 Chimeric Antigen Receptor T Cell Therapy in Progressive Systemic Sclerosis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective To characterize the clinical, immunologic, and proteomic changes associated with CD19 chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy in patients with progressive systemic sclerosis (SSc). Methods Patients with progressive SSc received CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)‐T cell therapy and were observed longitudinally for safety, clinical efficacy,

The role of psychological interventions in symptom management and rehabilitation of athlete-specific vascular pathologies: A comprehensive review

open access: yesROL Spor Bilimleri Dergisi
Athlete-specific vascular pathologies are uncommon but high-impact disorders in which sport-specific biomechanical, positional, and training loads interact with vascular anatomy to generate exertional ischemia, neurovascular compression, or thrombosis ...

From Interferon Signature to the Clinical Landscape: Type I Interferonopathies

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Background Type I interferonopathies are heterogeneous diseases driven by dysregulated IFN‐I signaling. Diagnosis is challenging due to clinical/molecular variability and the need for IFN‐I quantification. Objective To characterize the clinical, immunological, genetic, molecular profiles of patients with suspected enhanced IFN‐I signaling, and assess ...

Blood pressure effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists: Mechanisms, trial evidence and Real‐world data

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists modestly lower blood pressure across diverse patient populations, including those without diabetes. These effects appear largely independent of glycaemic control and offer additive value in high‐risk patients with overlapping comorbidities.

Practice-Based Management Data of Consecutive Subjects Assessed for the Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome at a Single Tertiary Institution

open access: yesClinics and Practice
Background: The pathophysiology of median arcuate ligament syndrome (MALS) is poorly understood. The diagnostic process remains inadequately standardized, with an absence of precise criteria to guide therapeutic management.

The extension of the taxon cycle model to island plants: insights from the Canarian vascular flora

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Taxon cycle models describe eco‐evolutionary patterns of lineage colonization, diversification, and decline across archipelagos, inferring an important role for competition amongst ecologically similar taxa in driving concurrent niche changes.
