Pneumatic Tourniquet for Surgical Procedures of Hemodialysis Vascular Access

Seminars in Dialysis, 2014
AbstractPneumatic tourniquet has been frequently utilized in various surgical specialties to facilitate surgical procedures on the extremities. However, its use for surgical procedures of hemodialysis access has been limited to some surgeons in the United States and often confined to the hospital settings under general anesthesia or regional nerve ...

Overview of types and results of vascular surgical procedures for impotence

Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology, 1988
The pathophysiologic basis for impotence, as related to possible vascular surgical procedures, is briefly discussed. In order to better classify criteria for selection and results of surgery, various relevant terms are defined. In the authors experience, conventional procedures for venous ligation have restored potency in only about 20% of cases.

Impact of “Do Not Resuscitate” Status on the Outcome of Major Vascular Surgical Procedures

Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2015
Patients with Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) orders may still be offered surgery that aims to prolong or improve quality of life. The widely accepted approach of "required reconsideration" mandates that patients and surgeons discuss perioperative risks and expected outcomes in the context of the patient's values and preferences. However, surgical outcomes in

Fibrinogen Heterogeneity in Cancer, in Occlusive Vascular Disease, and after Surgical Procedures

American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1976
Electrophoresis in 3.5% polyacrylamide gel was used to determine the patterns of fibrinogen heterogeneity in healthy subjects, in postoperative patients and in patients with cancer or occlusive vascular disease. Two major and one minor fibrinogen fractions, differing in molecular weight, were identified, and their concentrations in blood determined ...

Uterine Vascular Interruption and Combined Radiation and Surgical Procedures

1978
Many types of mechanical manipulation of the mammalian conceptus can result in embryonic death, growth retardation, or malformation. Crushing the embryonic site results in death and provides a simple way to control the number and intrauterine positions of conceptuses (Jensh et al, 1970; Barr, 1970, 1971).

The ALPPS Procedure: A Surgical Option for Hepatocellular Carcinoma with Major Vascular Invasion

World Journal of Surgery, 2013
AbstractBackgroundHepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tends to have a particular invasiveness toward the portal vein (PV) branches and hepatic veins. This situation can hamper major surgical resection with a risk of postoperative liver failure due to the small future liver remnant (FLR) in cirrhotic livers.

Anästhesie für große gefäßchirurgische Eingriffe

AINS - Anästhesiologie · Intensivmedizin · Notfallmedizin · Schmerztherapie, 2009
Vascular surgery carries a high perioperative risk for the patients, because of the high incidence of coexisting diseases with an increased risk of cardiovascular complications. Based on preoperative findings, anaesthetic technique, monitoring and postoperative management are planned.

Angioplasty and Other Noninvasive Vascular Surgical Procedures

2007
The field of vascular surgery has undergone significant changes recently. Beginning with the development of less invasive techniques to manage general surgical pathology, such as laproscopic procedures, there has been a paradigm shift in the type of techniques that are available to treat patients.

Characterization of Planned and Unplanned 30-Day Readmissions Following Vascular Surgical Procedures

Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, 2016
Objective: Thirty-day readmission is increasingly used as a quality of care indicator. Patients undergoing vascular surgery have historically been at high risk for readmission. We analyzed hospital readmission details to identify patients at high risk for readmission in order to better understand these readmissions and improve resource utilization in ...

Remote ischaemic preconditioning versus no remote ischaemic preconditioning for vascular and endovascular surgical procedures

Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2010
Despite advances in perioperative care, elective major vascular surgical procedures carry a significant risk of morbidity and mortality. Remote ischaemic preconditioning is initiated by brief, non-lethal periods of ischaemia in a vascular bed different from the one which will be subjected to ischaemic insult during surgery.
