Validating Segmentation of the Zebrafish Vasculature

2020
The zebrafish is an established vertebrate model to study development and disease of the cardiovascular system. Using transgenic lines and state-of-the-art microscopy it is possible to visualize the vascular architecture non-invasively, in vivo over several days.

Hepatic Segments and Vasculature: Projecting CT Anatomy onto Angiograms

RadioGraphics, 2009
Hepatic transarterial interventional therapies such as chemoembolization and radiation embolization are important treatment options for hepatocellular carcinoma. Understanding the anatomy of individual arterial branches and hepatic segments is critical for selecting the correct embolization technique for treatment and to avoid complications.

Hardware acceleration of retinal blood vasculature segmentation

Proceedings of the 23rd ACM international conference on Great lakes symposium on VLSI, 2013
Retinal vessel tree extraction is a complex and computationally intensive task used in several medical and biometric applications. The emergence of portable biometric authentication applications, as well as on-site biomedical diagnostics, raises the need for hardware-accelerated, power-efficient architectures that can satisfy the performance and ...

Retinal vasculature segmentation using principal spanning forests

2012 9th IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI), 2012
We propose an automated morphology reconstruction method for curvilinear network analysis. The proposed approach first projects samples to the ridge of the intensity image of the curvilinear system. Then, a manifold deviation measure is utilized to approximate the ridge with piecewise linear segments between the projected samples.

Segmentation of 3D Vasculatures for Interventional Radiology Simulation

2011
Training in interventional radiology is slowly shifting towards simulation which allows the repetition of many interventions without putting the patient at risk. Accurate segmentation of anatomical structures is a prerequisite of realistic surgical simulation.

Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography for Anterior Segment Vasculature Imaging

Ophthalmology, 2015
To evaluate the application of an optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) system adapted for the assessment of anterior segment vasculature.Cross-sectional, observational study.Consecutive subjects with normal eyes on slit-lamp clinical examination and patients with abnormal corneal neovascularization. All scans were performed using a ...

Unilateral persistent fetal vasculature coexisting with anterior segment dysgenesis

International Ophthalmology, 2013
Persistent fetal vasculature (PFV) is a common congenital developmental anomaly of the eye which results from failure of the embryological primary vitreous and hyaloid vasculature to regress by the time of birth (Int Ophthalmol Clin 48: 53-62, 2008).

Segmental Variation of Adrenergic Innervation in Rabbit Mesenteric Vasculature

Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, 1981
In order to characterize the segmental variation in vascular adrenergic innervation, histochemical, biochemical, and physiological parameters were determined in segments of the rabbit mesoduodenal arteries that averaged 1.23, 0.70, and 0.49 mm in outer diameter in situ.

Brain vasculature segmentation based on human perception criteria

Medical Imaging 2020: Image Perception, Observer Performance, and Technology Assessment, 2020
In this work, we aim to accurately segment the cerebral vasculature on MRI-TOF images. This study is part of a wider project1 in which we intend to characterize the arterial bifurcations in order to estimate the risk of occurrence of intra-cranial aneurysms (ICA).
