Role of S1P‐ and Rho‐kinase signalling in age‐related myogenic tone deficiency in murine resistance arteries

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 3, Page 1524-1542, 1 March 2026.
Abstract Ageing is a risk factor for cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. The myogenic response in resistance arteries is responsible for basal (myogenic) tone and blood flow autoregulation. G‐protein‐coupled receptors and G12/RhoA/Rho kinase are implicated in myogenic tone (MT), and we aimed to clarify their role in pressure sensing and ...

Functional expression of inwardly rectifying and ATP‐sensitive potassium channels in human pulmonary artery smooth muscle and endothelial cells

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 5, Page 1820-1839, 1 March 2026.
Abstract figure legend Inwardly rectifying (Kir2) and ATP‐sensitive (KATP) potassium channels are functionally expressed in human pulmonary artery endothelial and smooth muscle cells. The schematic illustrates how Kir2‐ and KATP‐mediated K+ efflux contributes to VM regulation and pulmonary vascular tone.

Similarities and differences in carotid artery, hemodynamic, and autonomic reactivity induced by mental stress or cold in adults: A randomized crossover study

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 5, March 2026.
The Stroop test and cold pressor test elicit comparable common carotid artery vasodilation. However, mental stress induced by the Stroop test leads to an earlier peak response, possibly influenced by anticipatory mechanisms. Created in BioRender. Speretta, G. (2026) https://BioRender.com/mwpc1hw.
