Clinical Practice Guideline for Evaluation and Management of Peripheral Nervous System Manifestations in Sjögren's Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Sjögren's disease is an autoimmune disorder that can impact multiple organ systems, including the peripheral nervous system (PNS). PNS manifestations, which can exist concurrently, include mononeuropathies, polyneuropathies, and autonomic nervous system neuropathies.

Vasomotor reactions in the face and head of patients with migraine

open access: yesCephalalgia Reports, 2018
Objective: To systematically review extracranial vasomotor reactions in patients with migraine, and to discuss potential overlaps with rosacea. Background: Autonomic manifestations are common in migraine and may reflect trigeminovascular system ...

The features of heart rate variability in children with carditis against the background of CMV infection

open access: yesPatologìâ, 2012
We showed that in children with carditis against the background of CMV infection a violation of autonomic regulation in the form of tension of functioning of sympathetic autonomic nervous system, manifested by decreased activity of the parasympathetic ...

Neuroendocrine Changes during Menopausal Transition

open access: yesEndocrines, 2021
Menopause is the permanent cessation of menstrual cycles following the loss of ovarian follicular activity. Quality of life of postmenopausal woman is the result of a series of psychobiological transformations, that see in the reduction of sex hormones ...

Building a Framework for Sexual and Reproductive Health Care in the Rheumatology Context: Content and Approaches

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
People with systemic autoimmune and rheumatic diseases (SARDs) are at higher risk than the general population of experiencing adverse pregnancy and perinatal outcomes such as preeclampsia, intrauterine growth restriction, and maternal and/or fetal death.

Respiratory Organ‐on‐a‐Chip for Disease Modeling: From Architecture to Functional Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Respiratory organ‐on‐a‐chip (ROC) models capture key mechanical and cellular cues of the human respiratory system, enabling quantitative dissection of disease mechanisms. This review links ROC architectures to disease modeling, functional integration, and commercialization, and proposes a decision framework that aligns model complexity with mechanistic

Effects of losartan on vasomotor function and canonical transient receptor potential channels in the aortas of sinoaortic denervation rats

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Hypertension, 2018
Increased short-term blood pressure variability (BPV) is strongly correlated with target organ damage. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying abnormal BPV-induced organ damage and effective therapeutic targets are poorly understood.

Randomized Sham-Controlled Pilot Study of Neurocardiac Function in Patients With Acute Ischaemic Stroke Undergoing Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2021
Background: Neurocardiac dysfunction worsens clinical outcome and increases mortality in stroke survivors. We hypothesized that heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback improves neurocardiac function by modulating autonomic nervous system activity after ...

Effects of systemic ethanol on medullary vasomotor neurons and baroreflexes

open access: yesNeuroscience Letters, 1992
The acute effects of systemic ethanol on reticulospinal sympathoexcitatory neurons were examined in vivo in anesthetized, paralyzed rats. Ethanol (0.45 g/kg, i.v.) potentiated the depressant effect of locally applied gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) but attenuated the excitatory effect of L-glutamate.
