Sickle Cell Vaso-Occlusion

Hematology/Oncology Clinics of North America, 1991
A polymerizable cell is a requirement for sickle cell vaso-occlusion, but other factors clearly modulate the course of the disease. Hemolysis produces a young red cell population that is capable of adhesion and may result in polymer formation in cells that would otherwise have remained deformable during transit through the microcirculation owing to ...

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF VASO-OCCLUSION

Hematology/Oncology Clinics of North America, 1996
Sickle cell anemia is a very complex disease. Vascular occlusion, the major event that accompanies SS, is itself a complex and multifactional process. Microvascular occlusion results in acute painful crises, whereas macrovascular occlusion seems to be the cause of organ failure.

Necrotizing Vaso-Occlusive Retinitis

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1977
We studied two adult patients with fulminating, necrotizing vaso-occlusive retinitis, and documented the progressive course of retinal necrosis, vitreoretinal interface contraction, and consequent retinal detachment. The systemic criteria for Behçet's disease were present in one patient, and partially fulfilled in the second.

Sickle Cell Vaso-Occlusion

Hematology/Oncology Clinics of North America, 2005
The vaso-occlusion model has evolved impressively over the past several decades from polymerization-based concepts to a complex, wide-ranging schema that involves multistep, heterogeneous, and interdependent interactions among sickle erythrocytes (SSRBCs), adherent leukocytes, endothelial cells, plasma proteins, and other factors.

Vaso-Epididymal Anastomosis

Journal of Urology, 1939
A technique of vaso-epididymal side-to-side anastomosis employed art erial silk rather than silver wire on 4 cases of bilateral occlusion. S permatozoa were recovered in the ejaculate of 3 of these patients within 4 to 8 months postoperatively. 1 patient produced spermatozoa with good motility in subnormal quantity.
