Predictive Ability of the CHA2DS2‐VA Score for No‐Reflow Phenomenon in ST‐Elevation Myocardial Infarction Patients Undergoing Primary PCI

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 8, August 2026.
The CHA2DS2‐VA score predicts no‐reflow after primary PCI in female STEMI patients (AUC 0.673) but not males. These sex‐specific findings support tailored risk stratification: standalone CV score use for women, versus integration with laboratory and procedural markers for men.

Exercise and Circadian Rhythm Regulation: Mechanisms, Resilience, and Therapeutic Potential for Neurological Diseases

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 8, August 2026.
Exercise acts as a non‐photic zeitgeber that enhances circadian rhythm alignment, reduces neuroinflammation and oxidative stress, and supports neuroprotection in CNS diseases, including stroke and Alzheimer's disease. ABSTRACT Background Circadian rhythms regulate sleep–wake cycles, hormonal secretion, metabolism, and immune responses.

Nitric Oxide in Cerebral Vasospasm: Theories, Measurement, and Treatment

open access: yesNeurology Research International, 2013
In recent decades, a large body of research has focused on the role of nitric oxide (NO) in the development of cerebral vasospasm (CV) following subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH).

The Immuno‐Cardiovascular Storm of Pre‐Eclampsia: Cytokine‐Mediated Endothelial Injury, Thrombosis, and Maternal Cardiovascular Instability

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 4, August 2026.
Placental ischemia in pre‐eclampsia initiates cytokine‐driven endothelial dysfunction, angiogenic imbalance, oxidative stress, and thromboinflammation. Elevated TNF‐α, IL‐6, IL‐17, sFlt‐1, and complement activation promote vasoconstriction, thrombosis, and cardiovascular instability.

A simulation study of the cost of cerebral vasospasm treatments with clazosentan: A mathematical model using time-driven activity-based costing.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
In this work, we aimed to assess the impact of clazosentan on clinical labour time costs within Japan's value-based healthcare system using time-driven activity-based costing.

Use of Free Flaps in the Reconstruction of the Ventral Skull Base: A Systematic Literature Review

open access: yesHead &Neck, Volume 48, Issue 8, Page 2261-2270, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Reconstruction of the ventral skull base represents a challenge in head and neck surgery. When local or regional flaps are insufficient, microvascular free flaps offer a reliable reconstructive option. Methods A systematic literature review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines to identify studies on ventral skull base ...

Outcome of microsurgical clipping of anterior circulation aneurysms during the period of vasospasm: single center experience in Egypt

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Neurosurgery, 2019
Objectives Recent guidelines recommend early closure of the ruptured aneurysms. However, this may not be available in all cases especially in developing countries.

Apigenin, Selenium, and Combinations Are Effective in Preventing 5‐Fluorouracil Induced Cardiovascular Damage

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 8, August 2026.
5‐Fluorouracil (5‐FU) induces cardiovascular toxicity by increasing ROS, MDA, Bax, and caspase‐3 while decreasing antioxidant defenses and Bcl‐2 levels. Apigenin and selenium enhance antioxidant capacity, restore Bcl‐2 expression, suppress apoptosis, and rebalance redox status.

An Open‐Label, 2‐Period, Fixed Sequence Study to Evaluate the Pharmacokinetics, Safety, and Tolerability of Single Doses of STS101 (Dihydroergotamine Nasal Powder), with and without Concomitant Itraconazole in Healthy Adult Subjects

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 66, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Dihydroergotamine (DHE) prescribing information contains a boxed warning regarding the possibility of serious and/or life‐threatening peripheral ischemia with co‐administration of strong cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) inhibitors. The effects of the strong CYP3A4 inhibitor itraconazole on the pharmacokinetics and safety of nasally administered ...

Pulsed Field Ablation Versus Thermal Ablation for First‐Time Pulmonary Vein Isolation in Atrial Fibrillation: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 4, August 2026.
In patients undergoing first‐time pulmonary vein isolation for atrial fibrillation, pulsed field ablation was associated with lower arrhythmia recurrence and reduced transient phrenic nerve palsy compared with thermal ablation. Durable pulmonary vein isolation and most safety outcomes were similar between treatment strategies.
