Entropy in description of vasovagal syndrome

2015 Computing in Cardiology Conference (CinC), 2015
In this paper we present an example of application of Approximate Entropy and Sample Entropy in analysis of vasovagal syndrome. In our research we conducted an analysis based on three types of data: RRI (RR intervals), SBP (systolic blood pressure) and TPR (total peripheral resistance), which were measured simultaneously with the head up tilt table ...

Heart Rate Variability in Patients with Vasovagal Syndrome

PACE - Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 1992
The aim of this study was to assess the heart rate variability in patients with vasovagal syndrome (WS). Heart rate variability was expressed as: (1) the standard deviation (SD) of the mean RR interval; and (2) the SD as a percentage of the mean RR interval (%SD). Heart rate variability was measured in VVS patients and compared with control individuals.

The Management of Vasovagal Syncope in a Patient with Brugada Syndrome

Cardiac Electrophysiology Clinics, 2012
Vasovagal syncope is the most common cause of the neurally mediated reflex syncopes. A higher susceptibility to vasovagal syncope has been reported in patients with Brugada syndrome (BrS) and may be caused by associated autonomic dysfunction. It is unclear what risk vasovagal syncope confers to patients with BrS.

Reproducibility of the Adenosine-5'-Triphosphate Test in Vasovagal Syndrome

Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, 1998
Vasovagal Syndrome: ATP Test Reproducibility. Introduction: Adenosine‐5′‐triphosphate (ATP) provokes negative chronotropic and dromotropic vagal effects. In vasovagal syndrome, ATP test (20‐mg IV bolus infusion) represents a promising technique for identifying patients at risk of severe cardioinhibitory response of vagal origin.

The incidence of malignant vasovagal syndrome in patients with recurrent syncope

European Heart Journal, 1991
We reviewed 322 patients with recurrent syncope between 1984 and 1988. Investigation included limited intracardiac electrophysiological study in all cases with programmed extra-stimulus studies in 48 cases. In 93 patients (29%), all investigations were normal, (including negative extrastimulus in 30).

Update on the Role of Pacemaker Therapy in Vasovagal Syncope and Carotid Sinus Syndrome

Progress in Cardiovascular Diseases, 2013
Vasovagal syncope (VVS) and carotid sinus syndrome (CSS) are related, neurally mediated disorders with different clinical features and treatment implications. Pacemaker intervention studies in both syndromes are hampered by a dearth of randomized, controlled (particularly with placebo) studies, unfortunate premature termination of studies, and ...

Short AV Interval VDD Pacing Does Not Prevent Tilt Induced Vasovagal Syncope in Patients with Cardioinhihitory Vasovagal Syndrome

PACE - Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 1994
Eleven subjects (mean age 50 years, range 33–71 years), who had previously received permanent dual chamber pacemakers for cardioinhibitory vasovagal syncope, underwent paired Westminster protocol tilt tests, one with short AV delay VDD pacing and one without pacing, to test the hypothesis that continuous ventricular pacing would prevent the cardiac ...
