Primary Hydatidosis of Vastus Lateralis

open access: yesAL-QADISIYAH MEDICAL JOURNAL, 2017
Hydatid cyst disease is common in some regions of the world and is usually located in liver and lung, but it can be seen any where in the body. this report presents a case of primary hydatid disease located partially Subcutaneosuly and partially intramuscular in the vastus lateralis.Case presentation :A 38-year-old male laborer Presented to our ...

Muscle fatigue in patients with severe long COVID: A 2‐year follow‐up study

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Fatigue is recognized as one of the most persistent and debilitating symptoms of long COVID, affecting both functionality and quality of life. However, its long‐term effects, especially beyond the first year after infection, remain poorly understood.

Determinants of Improved Dyspnea and Exercise Tolerance With Nasal High‐Flow O2 Therapy in Fibrotic Interstitial Lung Disease: A Pilot Physiological Study

open access: yesRespirology, EarlyView.
We tested the respective effect of high‐flow and supplemental O2 from nasal high‐flow O2 therapy (NHFO2) on dyspnea and exercise tolerance in fibrotic interstitial lung disease. Supplemental O2 and NHFO2 (but not high‐flow) provided improvements in these outcomes at “iso‐O2 saturation” due to reduced ventilatory requirements.

Disproportional ventilatory response to incremental exercise in individuals with cerebral palsy

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, EarlyView.
Individuals with cerebral palsy demonstrate a disproportionate ventilatory response during incremental exercise. Compared with typically developing peers, respiratory frequency increases earlier and at comparable exercise intensities, contributing to higher perceived exertion and reduced ventilatory efficiency. At task failure, respiratory frequency is

Mitochondrial respiration and characteristics of skeletal muscles in children with cerebral palsy

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, EarlyView.
Skeletal muscles utilize numerous mitochondria for energy production needed during muscle contraction. Mitochondria produce this energy through the electron transport chain. After an injury such as ACL‐injury in typically developing children, there is a reduction in muscle mitochondrial respiration and content.

Alterations in whole muscle quality and physiological cross-sectional area measured with quantitative MRI following ACL injury

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine
Background Emerging evidence suggests that there are morphological and physiological changes to the vastus lateralis after an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear. However, it is unclear whether these alterations are limited to just the vastus lateralis
