Effects of Iron Concentration Level in Extracting Solutions from Contaminated Soils on the Determination of Zinc by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry with Two Background Correctors

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Methods in Chemistry, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
Zinc and iron concentrations were determined after digestion, water, and three‐step sequential extractions of contaminated soils. Analyses were carried out using flame absorption spectrometry with two background correctors: a deuterium lamp used as the continuum light source (D2 method) and the high‐speed self‐reversal method (HSSR method).

The Development of Expressive Drawing Abilities during Childhood and into Adolescence

open access: yesChild Development Research, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
The way children portray emotions in their drawings of human and nonhuman topics is assumed to reflect their artistic, emotional, and cognitive development. This study was designed to investigate the development of expressive drawings during childhood and into adolescence, using a large age range (5–15 years) and sample size (N = 480), so as to provide

Theory of mind deficits in Korsakoff's syndrome and alcohol use disorder: Similar deficits but different underlying cognitive processes

open access: yesAlcohol, Clinical and Experimental Research, Volume 49, Issue 9, Page 1962-1971, September 2025.
The aim of this study was to explore Theory of Mind (ToM) in Korsakoff's syndrome (KS) compared with severe alcohol use disorder (sAUD). We used a cognitive ToM test that reduces the cognitive load and global cognitive screening, working memory, and executive tests.

Minimizing Chloride Interferences Produced by Calcium Chloride in the Determination of Cd by Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
Cadmium concentrations in CaCl2 extracting solutions at various concentrations were determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption using two background correctors: the deuterium and the high‐speed self‐reversal background correction systems. Under‐ and overestimation of the Cd absorbance signals in CaCl2 solutions were observed for concentrations ...

First detection of apple proliferation and pear decline phytoplasmas in Luxembourg

open access: yesEPPO Bulletin, Volume 55, Issue 2, Page 320-327, August 2025.
Abstract The present article reports the first detection of the apple proliferation and pear decline phytoplasmas (‘Candidatus Phytoplasma mali’ and ‘Ca. P. pyri’, respectively) in Luxembourg. These phytoplasmas, belonging to the 'Apple Proliferation group' 16SrX, are causing severe losses in European fruit tree production, respectively, on apple ...
