Periodic Density Structures Observed in Ulysses Data: First Results

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Periodic density structures (PDSs) are advecting quasi‐periodic (periodicities between several minutes and several hours) density enhancements observed in the solar wind and corona. There is strong evidence that PDSs are formed at the Sun.

Impacts of Temperature‐ and Stress‐Dependent Rheology on Ice‐Shelf‐Front Bending

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface, Volume 131, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Classical treatments of ice‐shelf bending suggest that shelf fronts should bend downwards, due to the distribution of hydrostatic water pressure at the front. However, LiDAR data show several instances of upward‐bending ice‐shelf fronts. While this phenomenon has often been attributed to a buoyant force from a submerged ice bench, recent work ...

The ecology of attraction: Fruit traits and frugivore diversity in neotropical Piper

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 3, Page 611-623, March 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Fruit traits can benefit plant reproduction by enhancing seed dispersal by mutualistic frugivores (e.g. seed dispersal syndromes), but identifying the role of specific fruit traits in mediating frugivory is challenging because these traits can serve multiple functions ...

Record phenological responses to climate change in three sympatric penguin species

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 95, Issue 3, Page 455-469, March 2026.
This paper is impressive because we managed to monitor extensively a really difficult place to reach and operate in. We deployed 77 cameras across Antarctica and the Sub Antarctic islands to monitor three different species of penguins. We found that they are the fastest advancing vertebrates with respect to their timing of breeding.

(Re)considering Discourses of Risk and Responsibility Through the Lens of Healthism: Interpreting the International Response to a Global Health Strategy for Noncommunicable Diseases

open access: yesSociology of Health &Illness, Volume 48, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Public health crises such as the global epidemic of so‐called ‘lifestyle diseases’ are often framed as the failure of individuals to make the right health‐related choices or to take responsibility for managing their bodies in ways that promote the health of present and future selves. Through his early writings on healthism, Robert Crawford was

Market Insurance and Risk Pooling in U.S. Crop Insurance

open access: yesAgricultural Economics, Volume 57, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT A common assumption is that multiple‐peril crop insurance markets suffer from market failures, thus justifying government intervention in the form of premium subsidies, operating allowances, and reinsurance agreements. One prominent rationale for intervention involves geographic correlation in agricultural production which leads to systemic ...
