Lawyer CEOs and Strategic Disclosure of Litigation Loss Contingencies

Using hand‐collected data, we find that lawyer CEOs, defined as CEOs with a legal education background, tend to make first disclosures about pending litigation cases on a timelier basis for litigation cases that end up with material losses than do non‐lawyer CEOs.

Fugitive or orphan? The Shanghai yen in the early days of the Sino‐Japanese war, 1938–1939

Abstract We explore a phenomenon observed during the Second Sino‐Japanese War in which the value of the yen in Shanghai fell below the official rate. Shanghai provided a parallel market in which yen could be traded indirectly against British pounds through the intermediation of the Chinese yuan.

National implementation of vaginal Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery for benign hysterectomies: A historical cohort study of Swedish data 2021–2023

The implementation of vNOTES hysterectomy in Sweden shows low intra‐ and postoperative complication rates. The 1‐year follow‐up after surgery shows that 90% of the patients were satisfied or very satisfied with the result. vNOTES seems to be a safe method to introduce broadly in a national setting.
