VCD Determination of the Absolute Configuration of Stypotriol [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2009
The absolute configuration of the pentacyclic ichthyotoxin stypotriol, a constituent of Stypopodium zonale, was deduced to be 3S,5R,8R,9R,10S,13S,14S-(-)-1 by vibrational circular dichroism spectroscopy of the derived triacetate 2 in comparison to DFT B3LYP/DGDZVP calculations.

Enhancing CHO cell recombinant protein production using a perfusion‐directed host evolution approach

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
Abstract Clonally derived cell lines generated from Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells encounter numerous stressors when cultured in high‐intensity perfusion bioreactors leading to poor process performance. To circumvent this, the ability of CHO cells to adapt to different culture environments was exploited. Here host cells were selected in the presence

Innovative methodology for flexible monitoring of various bioprocesses by using pre‐existing Raman data coupled with automated transfer learning technique

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
The application of the transfer learning algorithm successfully allowed the use of a model built on process A for real‐time monitoring of process B. This study shows the improvement obtained with this methodology compared to the direct application of the model.

Vocal cord dysfunction diagnosed by four-dimensional dynamic volume computed tomography in patients with difficult-to-treat asthma: A case series

open access: yesJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2015
Patients with asthma may also have vocal cord dysfunction (VCD), which leads to poor control of the asthma. Once patients are diagnosed with difficult-to-treat asthma with poor control, VCD should be excluded or treated accordingly. The gold standard for

Extraction of $|V_{cd}|$ and $|V_{cs}|$ from experimental decay rates using lattice QCD $D \to \pi(K) \ell \nu$ form factors

open access: yes, 2018
We present a determination of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements $|V_{cd}|$ and $|V_{cs}|$ obtained by combining the momentum dependence of the semileptonic vector form factors $f_+^{D \to \pi}(q^2)$ and $f_+^{D \to K}(q^2)$, recently ...

Regional Characteristics of NO2 Column Densities from Pandora Observations during the MAPS-Seoul Campaign [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Vertical column density (VCD) of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) was measured using Pandora spectrometers at six sites on the Korean Peninsula during the Megacity Air Pollution Studies-Seoul (MAPS-Seoul) campaign from May to June 2015.

Sequential, chromosome‐specific glutamine synthetase double knockout with Cas‐CLOVER establishes enhanced CHO platforms for cell line development

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
This study established the first creation of a commercially available double GS knockout (DKO) from a single KO in CHO‐K1 cells, called CleanCut GS CHO using Cas‐CLOVER. When combined with the Harbor‐IN transposase system, CleanCut GS CHO cells demonstrated a highly antibody productivity.

Software-Assisted Depth Analysis of Optic Nerve Stereoscopic Images in Telemedicine

open access: yesInternational Journal of Telemedicine and Applications, 2016
Background. Software guided optic nerve assessment can assist in process automation and reduce interobserver disagreement. We tested depth analysis software (DAS) in assessing optic nerve cup-to-disc ratio (VCD) from stereoscopic optic nerve images (SONI)

Tuning the Twist by Molecular Design: A New Strategy for Hexabenzocoronene‐Containing Helical Twistacene

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
An efficient Scholl–based strategy enables precise control of the C–C bond to access the first hexabenzocoronene–containing helical twistacene (NG2). The resulting nanographene shows pronounced helical distortion, high stability, enhanced solubility, and promising redox and optoelectronic properties.

Vortex Circular Dichroism: An experimental technique to assess the scalar/vectorial regime of diffraction [version 2; peer review: 2 approved]

open access: yesOpen Research Europe
Background In classical electrodynamics, light-matter interactions are modelled using Maxwell equations. The solution of Maxwell equations, which is typically given by means of the electric and magnetic field, is vectorial in nature. Yet it is well known
