Scale‐ and Variable‐Dependent Localization for 3DEnVar Data Assimilation in the Rapid Refresh Forecast System

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems
This study demonstrates the advantages of scale‐ and variable‐dependent localization (SDL and VDL) on three‐dimensional ensemble variational data assimilation of the hourly‐updated high‐resolution regional forecast system, the Rapid Refresh Forecast ...

Implementation of the Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS)

open access: yesAviation, 2018
In this paper is introduced the first proposal for development of Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) in 1999 by the author of this article. The GADSS is de facto the integration of space (radio and satellite) Communication, Navigation

Anarchic Yukawas and top partial compositeness: the flavour of a successful marriage

open access: yes, 2015
The top quark can be naturally singled out from other fermions in the Standard Model due to its large mass, of the order of the electroweak scale. We follow this reasoning in models of pseudo Nambu Goldstone Boson composite Higgs, which may derive from ...

Individual variation in perceived density of conspecifics and its impacts on the realization of ecological niches

open access: yesOikos, Volume 2026, Issue 5, May 2026.
Animals gather information about their surroundings, including their social environment, using a wide range of sensory modalities. Variation in reception, processing and interpretation of information (cues or signals) can lead to differences in how individuals perceive their local environment. Yet, how individual differences in environmental perception

Solving the SUSY CP problem with flavor breaking F-terms

open access: yes, 2005
Supersymmetric flavor models for the radiative generation of fermion masses offer an alternative way to solve the SUSY-CP problem. We assume that the supersymmetric theory is flavor and CP conserving.

Novel perianal proliferative mass in a 10.5‐year‐old male castrated dog

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, May 2026.
Abstract A 10.5‐year‐old, 31.1‐kg male castrated mixed‐breed dog was referred for a 1.5 cm, bleeding, perianal mass. Cytology was supportive of sarcoma, while granulation tissue with ulceration and superficial bacterial colonisation was reported on the histologic examination of an excisional biopsy performed by the referring veterinarian.

Fracture detection using conventional well logging in carbonate Matulla Formation, Geisum oil field, southern Gulf of Suez, Egypt

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology, 2017
The non-availability of the advanced tools such as FMI and Borehole Televiewer has led to the use of conventional well logging methods in the examination of potential fractures and ultimately help in reservoir characterization and development. This study

Mass loss from warm giants: Magnetic effects [PDF]

open access: yes
Among warm giant stars, rapid mass loss sets in along a well defined velocity dividing line (VDL). Hot corona also disappear close to the VDL and thermal pressure cannot drive the observed rapid mass loss in these stars.

Solute trapping and diffusionless solidification in a binary system

open access: yes, 2007
Numerous experimental data on the rapid solidification of binary systems exhibit the formation of metastable solid phases with the initial (nominal) chemical composition.

Structures of variants of Escherichia coli flavodiiron‐type nitric oxide reductase reveal changes in the di‐iron site

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 82, Issue 5, Page 457-470, May 2026.
Flavodiiron proteins (FDPs) are di‐iron enzymes that reduce NO and/or O2 with distinct substrate selectivity. We have produced E. coli FDP variants targeting second coordination‐sphere residues and determined their structures. Although the kinetics remained unchanged, the E.
