The memory wall places a significant limit on performance for many modern workloads. These applications feature complex chains of dependent, indirect memory accesses, which cannot be picked up by even the most advanced microarchitectural prefetchers. The result is that current out-of-order superscalar processors spend the majority of their time stalled.

Vector-Vector Scattering on the Lattice [PDF]
In this work we present an extension of the LüScher formalism to include the interaction of particles with spin, focusing on the scattering of two vector particles. The derived formalism will be applied to Scalar QED in the Higgs Phase, where the U(1) gauge boson acquires mass.

For an integer d>=1, let tau(d) be the smallest integer with the following property: If v1,v2,...,vt is a sequence of t>=2 vectors in [-1,1]^d with v1+v2+...+vt in [-1,1]^d, then there is a subset S of {1,2,...,t} of indices, 2<=|S|<=tau(d), such that \sum_{i\in S} vi is in [-1,1]^d. The quantity tau(d) was introduced by Dash, Fukasawa, and

Many important and rapidly emerging pathogens of humans, livestock and wildlife are ‘vector-borne’. However, the term ‘vector’ has been applied to diverse agents in a broad range of epidemiological systems. In this perspective, we briefly review some common definitions, identify the strengths and weaknesses of each and consider the functional ...

Vector Subdivision Schemes for Arbitrary Matrix Masks [PDF]
Employing a matrix mask, a vector subdivision scheme is a fast iterative averaging algorithm to compute refinable vector functions for wavelet methods in numerical PDEs and to produce smooth curves in CAGD. In sharp contrast to the well-studied scalar subdivision schemes, vector subdivision schemes are much less well understood, e.g., Lagrange and ...

Learning with Kernels: Support Vector Machines, Regularization, Optimization, and Beyond
Chapters 2–7 make up Part II of the book: artificial neural networks. After introducing the basic concepts of neurons and artificial neuron learning rules in Chapter 2, Chapter 3 describes a particular formalism, based on signal-plus-noise, for the ...

Whittaker vectors and conical vectors
AbstractA holomorphic family of differential operators of infinite order is constructed that transforms conical vectors for principal series representations of quasi-split, linear, semi-simple Lie groups into Whittaker vectors. Using this transform, it is shown that algebraic Whittaker vectors (as studied by Kostant) extend to ultradistributions of ...
