Vector control: Discovery of Wolbachia in malaria vectors
Current Biology, 2021Wolbachia bacteria are being widely released for suppression of dengue transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. Walker, Quek, Jeffries and colleagues present robust evidence for natural Wolbachia infections in malaria-vectoring Anopheles mosquitoes, paving the way for new Wolbachia-based interventions.

Vectorized optoelectronic control
2020 Photonics North (PN), 2020We demonstrate coherent control in a semiconductor using vector laser beams and laser beams tailored with spatial light modulators. We spatially map the resulting current vector distribution using optoelectronic detection.

Abstract The origin of vector control dates from the 1970s with the work of Professor Leonhard [1] and his student Blaschke [2]. An earlier dissertation described work of a similar nature by Hasse [3] who was a student of Professor Joetten at TH Darmstadt. Originally the approach was referred to as ‘field oriented control’.

Vector Control, Optimal Control, and Vector-Borne Disease Dynamics
2020Abstract Understanding methods of vector control is essential to vector-borne disease (VBD) management. Vaccines or standard medical interventions for many VDBs do not exist or are poorly developed so disease control is focused on managing vector numbers and dynamics.

Vector Control in Transportation Osteogenesis
Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2005To evaluate the ability to control vectors in the technique of transportation osteogenesis using 4 principles.Sixteen defects measuring approximately 30-180 mm were retrospectively evaluated. Vector control was attempted using a single or combination of the following principles: multiple linear vectors, exaggerated linear distraction ("sausage effect"),

Abstract The chapter begins with a description of the scalar control of PMS motors. The fundamentals of PMS motor vector control (VC) are then presented with an eye on the analogy with DC motor operating principles. The VC of surface-mounted permanent magnet pole motors and interior permanent magnet (IPM) motors are presented in various ...
