Improving the Pole Relocating Properties of Vector Fitting

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2006
This paper describes a modification of the vector fitting (VF) procedure for rational function approximation of frequency-domain responses. The modification greatly improves the ability of VF to relocate poles to better positions, thereby improving its convergence performance and reducing the importance of the initial pole set specification.

Ringdown analysis of power systems using vector fitting

Electric Power Systems Research, 2016
Abstract This short communication introduces vector fitting for mode estimation from ringdown responses of power systems. The performance of the method is evaluated for different power system models and is found to be very accurate.

Vector formulation for interferogram surface fitting

Applied Optics, 1993
Interferometry is an optical testing technique that quantifies the optical path difference (OPD) between a reference wave front and a test wave front based on the interference of light. Fringes are formed when the OPD is an integral multiple of the illuminating wavelength. The resultant two-dimensional pattern is called an interferogram.

GVF: GPU based Vector Fitting

2019 IEEE 28th Conference on Electrical Performance of Electronic Packaging and Systems (EPEPS), 2019
Vector Fitting (VF) algorithm has been widely used for system identification from multiport tabulated data. Particularly, it is of high interest to the design community focused on modeling of high-speed modules such as large number of coupled interconnects, packaging structures and variety of electromagnetic modules.

Vector Fitting vs. Levenberg-Marquardt : Some experiments

2009 IEEE Workshop on Signal Propagation on Interconnects, 2009
A discussion and evaluation of the Vector Fitting technique is presented, in comparison with a special flavor of the Levenberg-Marquardt method, which is one of the most successful quasi Gauss-Newton techniques. Although generally slower than Vector Fitting, the Levenberg-Marquardt method can achieve greater accuracy than Vector Fitting, because of its

A comparative study of vector fitting and orthonormal vector fitting techniques for EMC applications

2006 IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2006. EMC 2006., 2006
Broadband rational approximations of multi- port systems are of great importance for accurate transient analysis of electrical systems. To this aim, fitting techniques have been found extremely useful in providing rational models for sampled data in the frequency domain.

Vector fitting based automatic circuit identification

2016 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference Proceedings, 2016
This paper describes a method to automatically obtain, from a set of impedance measurements at different frequencies, an equivalent circuit composed of lumped elements based on the vector fitting algorithm. The method starts from the impedance measurement of the circuit and then, through the recursive use of vector fitting, identifies the circuit ...

Fitting Constrained Vector Autoregression Models

2014
This paper expands the estimation theory for both quasi-maximum likelihood estimates (QMLEs) and Least Squares estimates (LSEs) for potentially misspecified constrained VAR(p) models. Our main result is a linear formula for the QMLE of a constrained VAR(p), which generalizes the Yule–Walker formula for the unconstrained case.

Some Remarks on the Vector Fitting Iteration

2006
Vector Fitting (VF) is an iterative technique to construct rational approximations based on multiple frequency domain samples, introduced by Gustavsen and Semlyen [1, 3]. VF is nowadays widely investigated and used in the Power Systems and Microwave Engineering communities.
