Modeling Dislocation Cutting of γ′ Precipitates in Ni‐Base Superalloys: Linking Atomistic and Dislocation Dynamics Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Dislocation cutting of γ′ precipitates in Ni‐based superalloys is investigated by linking atomistic simulations with discrete dislocation dynamics. The critical cutting stress is shown to be governed by the antiphase boundary energy, while line tension effects promote edge‐preferred cutting.

Analytical solution of axi-symmetrical lattice Boltzmann model for cylindrical Couette flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Analytical solution for the axi-symmetrical lattice Boltzmann model is obtained for the low-Mach number cylindrical Couette flows. In the hydrodynamic limit, the present solution is in excellent agreement with the result of the Navier-Stokes equation ...

Scattering of Goldstone bosons and resonance production in a composite Higgs model on the lattice

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We calculate the coupling between a vector resonance and two Goldstone bosons in SU(2) gauge theory with N f = 2 Dirac fermions in the fundamental representation. The considered theory can be used to construct a minimal Composite Higgs models.

Profile vectors in the lattice of subspaces

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 2009
Let \(\mathbb F_q\) be the finite field of \(q\) elements and let \(V\) be an \(n\)-dimensional vector space over \(\mathbb F_q\). For a family \(\mathcal U\) of subspaces of \(V\), the profile vector \(f(\mathcal U)\) is a vector \((x_0,\ldots,x_n)\) where \(x_i\) is the number of subspaces in \(\mathcal U\) of dimension \(i\) \((i=0,\ldots,n)\).

Extension of vector-lattice homomorphisms

open access: yes, 1980
Extensions of a positive linear operator on a vector lattice satisfying a certain approximation condition are considered. When the operator is a vector-lattice homomorphism, these extensions are also vector-lattice homomorphisms.

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.

Mathematical modelling of Mosquito Dispersal for Malaria\ud Vector Control. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In malaria endemic regions, dispersal of mosquitoes from one location to another searching for resources for their survival and reproduction is a fundamental biological process that operates at multiple temporal and spatial scales.

Triple Junctions as Dislocation‐Like Defects: The Role of Grain Boundary Crystallography Revealed by Experiment and Atomistic Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Grain boundary triple junctions are an essential ingredient of the microstructure of polycrystalline materials. In this study, a triple junction is observed using atomic‐resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy and characterized. Computer simulations reveal that the junction has a dislocation character that is determined by the joining ...

Continuum extrapolation of quarkonium correlators at non-zero temperature

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
In the investigation of in-medium modifications of quarkonia and for determining heavy quark diffusion coeffcients, correlation functions play a crucial role.
