Interframe hierarchical vector quantization

International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1989
An interframe hierarchical vector quantizer (IHVQ) is presented that is capable of encoding image sequence scenes at rates below 0.3 bit per pixel per frame. A regular decomposition quadtree method is used to segment the interframe differential signal into homogeneous regions of different block size.

Predictive classified vector quantization

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 1992
A vector quantization scheme based on the classified vector quantization (CVQ) concept, called predictive classified vector quantization (PCVQ), is presented. Unlike CVQ where the classification information has to be transmitted, PCVQ predicts it, thus saving valuable bit rate.

Fast video vector quantization

2008 23rd International Symposium on Computer and Information Sciences, 2008
In this paper fast video vector quantization algorithm was developed utilizing high correlation between successive frames which can be used for motion compensation as a next step. Best matching code vector search speed is increased using previously encoded frame code vector index list, which carry the available information of that frame.

Generalized relevance learning vector quantization

Neural Networks, 2002
We propose a new scheme for enlarging generalized learning vector quantization (GLVQ) with weighting factors for the input dimensions. The factors allow an appropriate scaling of the input dimensions according to their relevance. They are adapted automatically during training according to the specific classification task whereby training can be ...

Vector quantization-lattice vector quantization of speech LPC coefficients

Proceedings of ICASSP '94. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2002
Two-stage vector quantization-lattice vector quantization (VQ-LVQ) is used to encode the speech line spectrum pair (LSP) parameters. VQ-LVQ has the advantages of lower implementational complexity and less required memory than split vector quantization (SVQ) and multi-stage vector quantization (MSVQ) with unstructured codebooks.

CONSTRAINED LEARNING VECTOR QUANTIZATION

International Journal of Neural Systems, 1994
Kohonen’s learning vector quantization (LVQ) is an efficient neural network based technique for pattern recognition. The performance of the method depends on proper selection of the learning parameters. Over-training may cause a degradation in recognition rate of the final classifier. In this paper we introduce constrained learning vector quantization

Harmonic Vector Quantization

2015 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2015
Audio coding of harmonic signals is a challenging task for conventional MDCT coding schemes. In this paper we introduce a novel algorithm for improved transform coding of harmonic audio. The algorithm does not deploy the conventional scheme of splitting the input signal into a spectrum envelope and a residual, but models the spectral peak regions.

Extension of two-stage vector quantization-lattice vector quantization

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1997
This paper is the extension of two-stage vector quantization-(spherical) lattice vector quantization (VQ-(S)LVQ) recently introduced by Pan and Fischer (see IEEE Trans. Inform. Theory, vol.41, p.155, 1995). First, according to high resolution quantization theory, generalized vector quantization-lattice vector quantization (G-VQ-LVQ) is formulated in ...

Bilinear vector quantization

2013 IEEE Digital Signal Processing and Signal Processing Education Meeting (DSP/SPE), 2013
Vector quantization (VQ) is a simple and useful data compression algorithm which has been widely applied in many fields such as image processing and pattern recognition. Because each data block is encoded by only one approximate vector in the codebook, the accuracy of the reconstructed blocks is usually poor in VQ.
