Thrust-Based Stabilization and Guidance for Airships without Thrust-Vectoring

open access: yesAerospace, 2023
The concept of thrust-based control without the employment of thrust-vectoring (TVC), already introduced in a previous work by the authors, is further developed in conjunction with an appropriate control suite, tasked with both artificial stabilization ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Vehicle Dynamic Control with 4WS, ESC and TVD under Constraint on Front Slip Angles

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
To enhance vehicle maneuverability and stability, a controller with 4-wheel steering (4WS), electronic stability control (ESC) and a torque vectoring device (TVD) under constraint on the front slip angles is designed in this research.

A state-of-the-art review on torque distribution strategies aimed at enhancing energy efficiency for fully electric vehicles with independently actuated drivetrains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
© 2019, Levrotto and Bella. All rights reserved. Electric vehicles are the future of private passenger transportation. However, there are still several technological barriers that hinder the large scale adoption of electric vehicles. In particular, their

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Effect of Geometry Modifications on the Vectoring Performance of a Controlled Jet

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2017
Jet vectoring performances of ten different designs with various depths and geometrical outlines were quantified through constant temperature anemometry measurements for a Reynolds number range from 10,000 to 30,000 by using passive and active flow ...

Computational Investigation of Fluidic Thrust Vectoring Control in Modified Vikas Nozzle [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
Over the decades, polar satellite launch vehicles and geosynchronous launch vehicles have utilized variants of the Vikas engine for numerous space operations. The pitching control for those launch vehicles is achieved by gimbaling the Vikas engine nozzle

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
