Myogenic transcranial motor evoked potentials monitoring cannot always predict neurologic outcome after spinal cord ischemia in rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
ObjectivesA day after undergoing an operation of the thoracic aorta, a patient showed signs of spastic paraplegia, but on myogenic transcranial motor evoked potential monitoring, the myogenic transcranial motor evoked potentials recorded from the left ...

Dramatic Clinical Improvement With Biotin Mega‐Dose Therapy in a Neonate With Holocarboxylase Synthetase Deficiency

open access: yesMolecular Genetics &Genomic Medicine, Volume 12, Issue 8, August 2024.
We reported an 8‐day‐old female neonate who presented with tachypnea, lactic acidosis, and erythematous skin lesions. She eventually diagnosed with holocarboxylase synthetase deficiency through next‐generation sequencing and exhibited a dramatic clinical improvement to high‐dose biotin therapy.

Pharmacokinetics of propofol in severely obese surgical patients

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 68, Issue 6, Page 726-736, July 2024.
Abstract Background Existing PK models of propofol include sparse data from very obese patients. The aim of this study was to develop a PK model based on standardised surgical conditions and spanning from normal‐weight up to, and including, a high number of very obese patients.

Transglutaminase 2 knockout mice are protected from bleomycin‐induced lung fibrosis with preserved lung function and reduced metabolic derangements

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 12, Issue 12, June 2024.
Tissue transglutaminase 2 (TG2) knockout mice demonstrated preserved lung function and reduced lesion area following bleomycin injury. Bleomycin fibrotic injury is associated with energy and amino acid metabolic changes. These metabolic changes are similar but overall reduced in magnitude in the TG2 KO mice.

Explore the effect of pressure and time of compression on the risk of intraoperatively acquired pressure injury based on theoretical framework: A prospective study

open access: yesInternational Wound Journal, Volume 21, Issue 4, April 2024.
Abstract Surgery is a high risk factor for the occurrence of pressure injury (PI). On the basis of theoretical research, pressure and duration of pressure are key factors affecting PI. Pressure is affected by the individual pressure redistribution capacity.

Efficacy of High‐Volume Low‐Concentration Intraperitoneal Bupivacaine Irrigation for Postoperative Analgesia in Patients Undergoing Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

open access: yesAnesthesiology Research and Practice, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Background: Intraperitoneal irrigation with a low‐volume, high‐concentration local anaesthetic in laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) provides less pain relief. We investigated the impact of high‐volume, low‐concentration bupivacaine on postoperative pain and opioid requirement.
