Resolution of Levodopa/Dopa‐Decarboxylase Inhibitor—Associated Microscopic Colitis with Subcutaneous Foslevodopa/Foscarbidopa: A Case Series and Review of the Literature

open access: yesMovement Disorders Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Microscopic colitis (MC) typically presents with chronic, non‐bloody watery diarrhea. Diagnosis requires endoscopy with colonic mucosal biopsies. The etiology is multifactorial, with several medications implicated, although only a few cases have been attributed to oral levodopa/dopa‐decarboxylase inhibitor (LDDCI) therapy.

αEβ7 Integrin Identifies Subsets of Pro-Inflammatory Colonic CD4+ T Lymphocytes in Ulcerative Colitis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background and Aims The αEβ7 integrin is crucial for retention of T lymphocytes at mucosal surfaces through its interaction with E-cadherin. Pathogenic or protective functions of these cells during human intestinal inflammation, such as ulcerative ...

Frailty Is Associated With All‐Cause and Acute Hospitalisations During 18 Months Follow‐Up in Older Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
The results of a geriatric assessment in older patients with IBD were associated with adverse health outcomes. Frailty, reflected by severe deficits in geriatric assessment, was independently associated with all‐cause and acute hospitalisations in older patients with IBD. ABSTRACT Background Guidelines recommend considering frailty in the management of

Sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor-1 (S1P1) is expressed by lymphocytes, dendritic cells, and endothelium and modulated during inflammatory bowel disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor-1 (S1P1) agonist ozanimod ameliorates ulcerative colitis, yet its mechanism of action is unknown. Here, we examine the cell subsets that express S1P1 in intestine using S1P1-eGFP mice, the regulation of S1P1 ...
