Validation of the Pediatric Arthritis Ultrasound Scoring System for the Elbow, Wrist, and Finger Joints in Children With Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We aimed to validate the Pediatric Arthritis Ultrasound Scoring System (PAUSS) for upper extremity joints in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Methods Children with JIA were evaluated for elbow, wrist, or finger arthritis by clinical examination (CE) and musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS) with images scored according to the ...

Cumulative Social Disadvantage and Disease Activity in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis: A Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance Registry Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Social determinants of health (SDOH) contribute to juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) disparities, but most studies have assessed SDOH independently rather than cumulatively across individual, family, and neighborhood levels. Using a socioecological framework, we investigated the relationship among cumulative social disadvantage ...

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

Enhanced Endoscopic Internal Drainage of Gastric Abscess Through Additively Manufactured Stents

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Postoperative gastric leaks are often treated with off‐label biliary double‐pigtail stents, yet conventional extruded designs are not optimized for leak anatomy, can migrate, and may limit abscess evacuation. PETALS is introduced to optimize transmural drainage geometry and enable patient‐specific 3D‐printable stents.

Hydrocolonic Sonography: Description of the Technique and Its Application in a Case of Intracolonic Lipoma: Report about a Case

open access: yesGastroenterology Insights, 2022
Intracolonic lipomas are benign lesions but can cause serious complications, especially when they are large. Regarding a 3 cm intracecal lipoma, we describe an ultrasound modality called a hydrocolonic ultrasound and how this technique can be used in the

Influence of Carbon Nanoparticles on Electrically Induced Wear of Grease‐Lubricated Steels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
When an electric current enters a pair of rubbing surfaces, enormous damage takes place. In this research, how such damage occurs in the presence of protective grease and the mitigation with added carbon nanoparticles, were investigated. It was discovered that those particles regulate transport and interfacial electrical stability of the grease ...

In vivo confocal microscopy provides evidence of corneal nerve damage and basal tear film reduction in patients treated with oral isotretinoin

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine
Background Isotretinoin is a vitamin A derivative used as a first-line treatment for moderate to severe acne. One of its most frequent side effects is dry eye disease (DED), in which tear film instability and neurosensory abnormalities play an etiologic ...
