Global Nitrogen Deposition Promotes Carbon Sink Formation in Terrestrial Ecosystems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nitrogen deposition alleviates ecosystem N limitation and enhances carbon sinks. Using 829 observations, we show 36% of deposited N is retained globally (39.15 Tg N yr−1), with distinct NHx and NOy contributions. This retention drives a terrestrial C sink of 0.88 Pg C yr−1 (25.48%), highlighting the importance of pool‐specific C:N stoichiometry ...

Multimodal AI‐Driven Identification of Dehydrocostus Lactone as a Potent Renal Fibrosis Attenuator Targeting IQGAP1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Renal fibrosis, a hallmark of CKD, lacks effective treatments. Herein, we developed a multimodal AI model (TCM‐SPred) to identify anti‐fibrotic agents and found that dehydrocostus lactone (DCL) targets IQGAP1 to inhibit Wnt signaling, blocking the interaction between IQGAP1 and CCT3, demonstrating potent anti‐fibrotic activity in vitro and in vivo ...

How to classify forests? A case study from Central Europe [PDF]

open access: yesVegetation Classification and Survey (VCS)
Aims: Inconsistent treatment of the vegetation layers is one of the main problems in the floristic classification of forests. In this study I investigate whether a classification based solely on woody species leads to units similar to the Braun-Blanquet ...
