Vegetation Dynamics in Ecuador
Global forest cover has suffered a dramatic reduction during recent decades, especially in tropical regions, which is mainly due to human activities caused by enhanced population pressures. Nevertheless, forest ecosystems, especially tropical forests, play an important role in the carbon cycle functioning as carbon stocks and sinks, which is why ...

High resolution modelling of flexible submerged vegetation in rivers [PDF]
Vegetation is a common feature within natural river channels and exerts a profound influence on the functioning of the fluvial system. In particular, the interaction between vegetation and flow causes a reduction in conveyance, an alteration to the ...

ARC3 levels are controlled by cytosolic and chloroplast proteolytic systems. PUB52 mediates ARC3 precursor ubiquitination and degradation in the cytosol, while CLPC1 promotes ARC3 degradation in chloroplasts, where ARC2 protects ARC3 from excessive breakdown. Disrupting these components causes chloroplast division defects, placing them upstream of ARC3.

A temporally controlled drug release coating is developed for abutments using a superhydrophobic coating self‐assembled on mesoporous silica. This surface provides sequential functionality: initial contamination resistance through non‐wetting, followed by controlled drug release via wettability transition.

Satellite monitoring of vegetation dynamics: Sensitivity enhancement by the wide dynamic range vegetation index [PDF]
Synoptic monitoring of vegetation dynamics relies on satellite observations of the distinctive spectral contrast between red and near infrared reflectance that photosynthetically active green vegetation exhibits. It has long been recognized that the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) suffers a rapid decrease of sensitivity at moderate‐to ...

Modelling Interactions between Climate and Global Vegetation in response to Climate Change [PDF]
Climate change associated with increasing concentrations of the greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide(CO2), is expected to lead to an increase in global mean temperature of between 1 and 3.5 deg C by the end of the 21st century, with regional changes in ...

CMOS‐Integrated Synaptic Photoreceptor Chip Inspired by Insect Visual Processing
CMOS‐integrated Si QDs/ReS2 synaptic photoreceptor array mimics the parallel processing and wavelength‐selective strategy of insect vision. By combining intrinsic ultraviolet‐violet sensitivity with synaptic plasticity, the chip enables frontend sensory redundancy reduction without external filters, offering a scalable pathway toward lowpower ...

ABSTRACT Viruses often hijack host developmental programs to promote infection, but the mechanistic links between reproductive regulation and antiviral immunity remain incompletely understood. Here, we identify a virus‐triggered hierarchical degradation cascade that links antiviral immunity and fertility regulation in rice. We show that the rice grassy
