East African Cenozoic vegetation history

Evolutionary Anthropology: Issues, News, and Reviews, 2017
AbstractThe modern vegetation of East Africa is a complex mosaic of rainforest patches; small islands of tropic‐alpine vegetation; extensive savannas, ranging from almost pure grassland to wooded savannas; thickets; and montane grassland and forest. Here I trace the evolution of these vegetation types through the Cenozoic.

Late Quaternary vegetation history

1982
At every geographical scale and taxonomic level, the vegetation pattern of New Guinea presents problems, the solutions to which must have substantial historical components. Some of the processes involved doubtless began millions of years ago while some may be only a few centuries, perhaps decades, old.

Vegetational history of central Scotland

Botanical Journal of Scotland, 1997
Summary The vegetation history of central Scotland has been summarized from information obtained primarily from pollen analysed sites in the region. Open ground taxa began to be replaced by a dwarf shrub community during the late-glacial period but this process was reversed by the Loch Lomond glacial readvance.

Scottish vegetation history: The Highlands

Botanical Journal of Scotland, 1997
Summary Pollen analytical, plant macrofossil and dendrochronological evidence together are used to reconstruct the late-glacial and Holocene vegetation history of the Highlands of Scotland. During the late-glacial period trees were almost, if not entirely, absent from the Highlands; vegetation analogous to that of Arctic regions of Europe today was ...

Landscape History, Vegetation History, and Past Human Impacts

2013
Three pollen profiles reveal vegetation changes during the past 16,500 years of the Podocarpus National Park (PNP) in the Southern Ecuadorian Andes. Andean glaciers retreated after the Last Glacial Maximum and the Younger Dryas cold interval, accompanied by a marked decline of paramo vegetation between 11660 and 4280 b.p., and the expansion of ...
