Template phenology for vegetation models

2009 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2009
To assist the representation of phenology in vegetation models we created several templates of phenology-driver relations by characterizing the annual phase differences between phenology and two phenology drivers. We did this using the results of a cross spectral analysis of MODIS EVI with radiation (CPTEC) and with precipitation (TRMM).

Climate Change and Vegetation Phenology

2020
The rate at which climate change is influencing the living organisms and ecosystem is considered as a major threat to sustaining the resources that are required for the human survival in the future. Environmental impacts on the life stages and functioning of organisms have been a major area of study over the last century. The information available from

Terrestrial vegetation phenology from MODIS and MERIS

2010 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2010
Phenological information can be provided globally using remote sensing based time-series vegetation indices. Basic differences in the data and methods used can yield different results. This study analysed such differences in the phenological information, mainly onset of greenness (OG), estimated using the Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) from Moderate ...

Phenology of Vegetation Photosynthesis

2003
In this chapter, we expanded the traditional research area of plant phenology by characterizing plant community growth activities from vegetation photosynthesis. We introduced a systematic approach to objectively determine the various stages in the seasonal march of vegetation photosynthesis.

Extracting the vegetation phenology of India monsoon forest

2016 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2016
The India monsoon is changing under the global climate change, which influence the transformation from dry season to wet season, and then impact the photosynthetic activity and transpiration of tropical and subtropical monsoon forest. The descriptions of this kind of phenology in this area are still lacking, where various shapes of seasonal ...

A Vegetation Phenology Monitoring Methodology Based on Sichuan Province

2021 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium IGARSS, 2021
Sichuan region as an important hub of western China population, its phenological change has a great influence on the western economic construction and social development, so the phenological response under the background of global warming and change, the ecological balance, scientific research and agricultural production is of great significance [1 ...

Forest phenoclusters for Argentina based on vegetation phenology and climate

Ecological Applications, 2022
AbstractForest biodiversity conservation and species distribution modeling greatly benefit from broad‐scale forest maps depicting tree species or forest types rather than just presence and absence of forest, or coarse classifications. Ideally, such maps would stem from satellite image classification based on abundant field data for both model training ...

Vegetative and Reproductive Plant Phenology

2015
An analysis of phenological patterns of plant species of the Yucatan Peninsula is presented. Vegetative phenology is analyzed on community level, based on vegetation types of the region. Spatial differences of precipitation availability play an important role in foliar behavior at community level.

Vegetation Phenology in Global Change Studies

2013
Changes in the character of the vegetated land surface are frequently expressed in terms of temporal trends in the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) retrieved from spaceborne sensors. In the past these change studies were typically based upon AVHRR data.

Vegetation Phenology in Global Change Studies

2003
Global change, encompassing natural and anthropogenic changes to the Earth system at sub-annual to geologic time scales, has strong interactions with vegetation phenology. In this chapter we will refer to global change as alterations to the Earth system that are certainly or probably influenced by human activity, primarily since the industrial ...
