Prevalence of Dietary Supplement Use and Potential Medication Interactions Among Adults with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective To characterize the prevalence and correlates of dietary supplement use, identify commonly used supplements, and evaluate potential supplement–medication interactions among adults with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods We analyzed cross‐sectional data from 451 adults in the Approaches to Positive, Patient‐centered Experiences of ...

Self‐Cleaning Sensor Surfaces for Long‐Term Environmental Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Long‐term use of unattended outdoor sensors without soiling or biofouling is achieved through generation of a micro‐ and nanorough cuvette surface by combing hydrophobic nanoparticles with fluorinated polymers, crosslinked and surface‐attached through CHic chemistry. The coating demonstrates self‐cleaning behavior and prolonged outdoor stability, which

Detecting Climate Effects on Vegetation in Northern Mixed Prairie Using NOAA AVHRR 1-km Time-Series NDVI Data

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2012
Grasslands hold varied grazing capacity, provide multiple habitats for diverse wildlife, and are a key component of carbon stock. Research has indicated that grasslands are experiencing effects related to recent climate trends.

Photo‐Switchable Molecular Module Programming PET Biodegradation in Aquatic Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We address the plastic durability paradox by integrating an itaconic acid–derived pyrrolidone module into polymer backbones. Sunlight in water triggers Norrish Type I ring‐opening and hydrophilization, enabling rapid biodegradation into nontoxic minerals.

Permafrost response to vegetation greenness variation in the Arctic tundra through positive feedback in surface air temperature and snow cover

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2019
The permafrost response to variations in Arctic vegetation remains controversial. We investigated the consequences of Arctic vegetation greenness variation over the past three decades using a coupled land-atmosphere model and found that it induces air ...

Biodegradable 3D‐Printable and Coatable Antifouling Composites for Marine Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Marine biofouling damages submerged surfaces and raises greenhouse gas emissions. Biodegradable antifouling biocomposites were developed by hot‐mixing beeswax, Tween 80, and calcium stearate or stearic acid. Adjusting the component ratio enables processing via hot‐pressing, 3D‐printing, or dip‐coating.

Distribution of vegetation on mesic forest sites in relation to some characteristics of the tree stand and soil fertility.

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 1983
Vegetation data collected from a random sample of mature forest stands representing mesic upland forest sites in Southern Finland were analysed and classified using two-way indicator species analysis (TWINSPAN).
