Detection and classification of vehicles
IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2002This paper presents algorithms for vision-based detection and classification of vehicles in monocular image sequences of traffic scenes recorded by a stationary camera. Processing is done at three levels: raw images, region level, and vehicle level. Vehicles are modeled as rectangular patches with certain dynamic behavior.

Vehicle Trajectory Approximation and Classification
Procedings of the British Machine Vision Conference 1998, 1998We present a variational technique for finding low curvature smooth approximations to trajectories in the plane. The method is applied to short segments of a vehicle trajectory in a known ground plane. Estimates of the speed and steering angle are obtained for each segment and the motion during the segment is assigned to one of the four classes: ahead,
