Controlling Motor Vehicle Emissions

open access: yesPlatinum Metals Review, 1989
For some twenty years this Journal has reported advances in the application of platinum metals catalyst technology for the control of automobile exhaust gases. The first work was directed at reducing atmospheric pollution in Los Angeles, where climatic and topographic conditions, together with a high concentration of automobiles combined to create a ...

Photosensitizing Lipid Nanoparticles for Ferroptosis‐Enhanced Photodynamic Cancer Therapy via GPX4 Silencing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Photosensitizing lipid nanoparticles (PLNPs) are engineered by incorporating cholesterol–PEG–pheophorbide a into MC3‐based LNPs and encapsulating GPX4‐targeting siRNA. Upon light activation, PLNPs generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) while silencing GPX4 to induce ferroptosis.

Evaluating the Antiviral Efficacy of Encapsulated PKC Inhibitor BIM‐I against influenza A Virus Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores nanoparticle delivery of the protein kinase C inhibitor bisindolylmaleimide‐I (BIM‐I) to combat influenza A virus infections. Encapsulation in biodegradable PLGA nanoparticles improved safety while maintaining the compound's strong antiviral activity.

Evaluating the environmental impact on connected vehicles during freeway accidents using VISSIM with probe vehicle data

open access: yesElectronic Research Archive
We evaluated emissions as an environmental effect resulting from connected vehicles (CVs) during freeway accidents. The CVs were used to determine the CV driving characteristics, whose values were used to implement the CV driving pattern using a ...

A 3D Astrocyte Microenvironment Model Enables Rapid Ca2+‐Resolved Analysis and Therapeutic Modulation of Oxidative Neuroinflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents ARC‐3D, a soft 3D model that recreates how brain support cells, called astrocytes, react to oxidative stress. The system visualizes rapid calcium changes and inflammatory signals, and shows how the drug KDS12025 can protect cells from damage. ARC‐3D offers a simple, reliable way to study early drivers of brain inflammation.

Nano‐Engineered Titanium Implants Loaded With Gingival Fibroblasts‐Derived Microvesicles Enhance Early Osseointegration And Soft Tissue Attachment In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Our study showed that human primary gingival fibroblast–derived microvesicles on nano‐engineered titanium implants promote early osseointegration and soft‐tissue attachment in vivo. ABSTRACT Titanium dental implants require both reliable osseointegration and peri‐implant soft tissue seal formation to ensure long‐term success. While osseointegration has
