Correlational and causal modeling of alcohol‐related symptoms and internalizing disorder status: Further elucidation of a harm paradox

We found that, after controlling for the level of daily alcohol use and demographic variables, those with a current anxiety or depression (“internalizing”) disorder (INTD) demonstrate significantly elevated relative odds of having all 37 alcohol‐related symptoms measured (a “harm paradox”).
