An efficient vehicular-relay selection scheme for vehicular communication

Soft Computing, 2021
Vehicular delay-tolerant networks follow a store–carry–forward mechanism to overcome the state of broken links between source and destination, which is crucial for autonomous vehicle networks. These networks depend upon the mobility of vehicular-relay nodes, which can adopt the store–carry–forward arrangement and provide consent to utilize their ...

LTE for Vehicular Communications

2015
The cellular communication networks standard 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Long Term Evolution (LTE) offers low latencies and high throughputs simultaneously, thus enabling more bandwidth-demanding and real-time critical services for end-users. This is of particular interest for vehicle manufacturers who in the future intend to offer a huge

Cognitive vehicular communication for 5G

IEEE Communications Magazine, 2015
Device-to-device (D2D) is increasingly becoming a prominent technology within the 5G story, portrayed as a means of offloading traffic from the core network. The ever increasing demand for vehicular traffic consumption is providing the impetus for a new architectural design that can harness the benefits of D2D for vehicular users, taking a step toward ...

Whitespace networks for vehicular communication

2013 Fifth International Conference on Communication Systems and Networks (COMSNETS), 2013
We outline the design of a system to exploit the TV whitespaces for dynamically gathering video feeds from public buses in a city. The system consists of the following components: (1) A FPGA based SDR board to be fixed on buses to collect the video feed from inside the bus and transmit it to the central location, (2) An open source software (GNU-radio)

Measuring Disruption in Vehicular Communications

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2011
Recent studies have shown that roadside wireless local area network (WLAN) access points (APs) can provide network access from vehicles. However, the unplanned deployment of WLAN APs is the main hurdle in the provision of continuous network services. Because of this unplanned deployment, a mobile node moving at vehicular speed experiences periods of ...

Position verification in vehicular communications

2013 Fifth International Conference on Communication Systems and Networks (COMSNETS), 2013
In this paper, we propose a novel positioning methodology for a moving observer vehicle to estimate the location of a target vehicle without having to rely on fixed roadside infrastructure units (RSU) as reference nodes. It also enables the moving observer vehicle to verify the GPS assisted location claims by the target vehicle.

Vehicular Communications: Standards and Challenges

2017
Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications represent information sharing between vehicles and any elements involved in an intelligent transportation system (ITS), including other nearby vehicles, handheld devices carried by pedestrians, roadside units (RSUs), and remote V2X application servers.

Terahertz Communication for Vehicular Networks

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2017
With the never-ending increase in the number of mobile connected devices and the need for higher data rates anywhere, anytime, higher frequency bands are being considered for communications. As millimeter-wave technology moves from research to commercial deployments, and motivated by the still limited bandwidth, the terahertz (THz) band is envisioned ...

WiFi for Vehicular Communication Systems

2013 27th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications Workshops, 2013
Vehicular communication is a popular topic in the academia and the car industry. The aim of these growing interest is to develop an effective communication system for the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). In this paper we presented the model of wireless base station good put evaluation.

Implementing Trusted Vehicular Communications

VTC Spring 2009 - IEEE 69th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2009
The main software modules included in the overall package are currently: (1) the encap and decap modules, realized as applications running in the background, (2) front-ends in different programming languages for easy integration into an existing application, and (3) a command line tool for generating valid certificates and keys for a node, called ca ...
