Abstract Impacts of metal pollution, either on water or in sediments within aquatic systems have been a serious challenge globally. Little is known about the ecological impacts of metal pollution on benthic macroinvertebrates species in sub–tropical river systems.

Similarity of stream insect trait profiles across biogeographic regions
Abstract Aim Habitat templet theory predicts that the functional niches of species evolved in response to selection pressures imposed by each species' spatial–temporal environment. Consequently, similar environmental conditions should lead to convergence in the biological trait composition of biogeographically independent assemblages.

Abstract Ecosystem engineers facilitate beneficiary species by ameliorating physical habitat. The stress‐gradient hypothesis (SGH) predicts the importance of facilitation in communities should increase with physical stress but has rarely been tested in freshwater.

Abstract Land‐use change and agricultural expansion have caused marked biodiversity loss in Southeast Asia, but impacts on freshwater communities have been very little studied. Semi‐aquatic bugs are abundant in streams, provide prey for many other animals, and are sensitive to environmental change, making them a relevant group for studying land‐use ...
