Carotid Velocities Determine Cerebral Blood Flow Deficits in Elderly Men with Carotid Stenosis <50% [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Vascular Medicine, 2012
To examine if mild carotid stenosis correlates with silent vascular brain changes, we studied a prospective population-based cohort “Men born in 1914.” Data from followups at ages 68 and 81, have been used. Carotid ultrasound was performed at age 81, and cerebral blood flow (CBF) was measured with SPECT at age 82.

Study on flow around straight-bladed vertical axis wind turbine under low tip speed ratio

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2014
The flow field around a vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) is very complicated because the blades pass in non-uniform flow field by the blade wake during rotation.

Sap Flow Velocity in Fraxinus pennsylvanica in Response to Water Stress and Microclimatic Variables

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
In arid and semiarid regions with water shortage, forestry development is limited by water availability. Understanding how tree sap flow responds to water stress and microclimatic variables is essential for the management of trees and the understanding ...

Special features of distribution of seismic waves propagation velocity in the Earth crust in the area of uranium deposits (Kirovograd ore area of Ingul megablock of the Ukrainian Shield)

open access: yesГеофизический журнал, 2015
Principal possibility of detailed study of velocity characteristics of crystalline Earth crust in the areas of uranium deposits has been shown. By comparison with geologic data an assumption has been expressed on increased concentration of sodium ...

Self-similarity Characteristics of Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Wakes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2022
Wake generated by wind turbine can greatly influence the performance of downstream turbine. To better understand the wake self-similarity characteristics of vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT), the shear stress transport (SST) turbulence model with the ...

Galactic rotation curves in modified gravity with non-minimal coupling between matter and geometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate the possibility that the behavior of the rotational velocities of test particles gravitating around galaxies can be explained in the framework of modified gravity models with non-minimal matter-geometry coupling. Generally, the dynamics of

JUMP ABILITY AND FORCE-VELOCITY PROFILE IN RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS

open access: yesScience of Gymnastics Journal, 2023
The jump is one of the main body elements in Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG). To perform it correctly, gymnasts must develop appropriate force and velocity levels to reach enough jump height to show the body shape during flight, as defined by the RG Code of ...
