The horizontal vestibulo-ocular reflex was studied in normals and in patients with an acute or compensated unilateral peripheral vestibular deficit (PVD) in order to determine the efficacy of various response measures of deficit side and central compensation for high rotation velocities.

In this study, inviscid linear stability theory is used to investigate the compressibility effects of Batchelor vortices. The growth rates are obtained from asymptotic analysis with large wavenumbers, and it is shown that the growth of disturbances is affected largely by both the Mach number and the axial velocity deficit. From the maximum growth rates

Neurotrophin-3 reverses nerve conduction velocity deficits in streptozotocin-diabetic rats.
Journal of the peripheral nervous system : JPNS, 2000The ability of neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) to reverse established nerve disorders was investigated in the peripheral neuraxis of streptozotocin-diabetic rats. Sciatic sensory and motor nerve conduction velocity deficits established after 2 months of diabetes were completely normalized by one further month of treatment with either NT-3 or insulin.

The predictive value of cranial computed tomography (CT) blood load and serial transcranial Doppler sonography for the development of delayed ischaemic neurological deficit was assessed in 121 patients following subarachnoid haemorrhage. Of the 121 patients, 81 (67%) had thick layers of blood or haematoma, including intraventricular bleeding.

The effect of movement velocity and eccentric contractions on the bilateral deficit
2005This study was performed to examine the effects of movement velocity and eccentric contractions on the bilateral deficit. To accomplish this, 18 participants performed bilateral and unilateral contractions eccentrically and concentrically across 6 movement velocities (30, 60, 90, 120, 150, and 180{dollar}\sp\circ{dollar}/s).

The Relationship Between Vortex Pairings and Velocity Deficit Recovery in a Wind Turbine Wake
2019The rapid recovery of a velocity deficit in a wind turbine wake was studied using unsteady simulations of Navier-Stokes equations. The results indicate that as the tip speed ratio (TSR) increased, the velocity deficit in the far-wake region was reduced while the deficit in the near-wake increased. This was caused in part by the difference of tip vortex
