MASS CALIBRATION AND COSMOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE SPT-SZ GALAXY CLUSTER SAMPLE USING VELOCITY DISPERSION σv AND X-RAY YX MEASUREMENTS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present a velocity-dispersion-based mass calibration of the South Pole Telescope Sunyaev–Zel'dovich effect survey (SPT-SZ) galaxy cluster sample. Using a homogeneously selected sample of 100 cluster candidates from 720 deg2 of the survey along with 63

The Globular Cluster System of the Virgo Giant Elliptical Galaxy NGC 4636: II. Kinematics of the Globular Cluster System

open access: yes, 2009
We present a kinematic analysis of the globular cluster(GC) system in the giant elliptical galaxy (gE) NGC 4636 in the Virgo cluster. Using the photometric and spectroscopic database of 238 GCs, we have investigated the kinematics of the GC system.

Clumpy and fractal shocks, and the generation of a velocity dispersion in molecular clouds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We present an alternative explanation for the nature of turbulence in molecular clouds. Often associated with classical models of turbulence, we instead interpret the observed gas dynamics as random motions, induced when clumpy gas is subject to a shock.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Automatic Single Droplet Generator with Control over Droplet Size and Detachment Frequency

open access: yesColloids and Interfaces, 2019
This paper presents a quite simple, fully automatized single droplet generator, which can be an alternative for more expensive and complicated microfluidic devices. The simple generation nozzle connected to the pressure cells and cheap peristaltic pumps,

IN-SYNC. II. VIRIAL STARS FROM SUBVIRIAL CORES—THE VELOCITY DISPERSION OF EMBEDDED PRE-MAIN-SEQUENCE STARS IN NGC 1333 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The initial velocity dispersion of newborn stars is a major unconstrained aspect of star formation theory. Using near-infrared spectra obtained with the APOGEE spectrograph, we show that the velocity dispersion of young (1–2 Myr) stars in NGC 1333 is 0 ...

The connection between the peaks in velocity dispersion and star-forming clumps of turbulent galaxies

open access: yes, 2017
We present Keck/OSIRIS adaptive optics observations with 150-400 pc spatial sampling of 7 turbulent, clumpy disc galaxies from the DYNAMO sample ($0 ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

On the Origin of the Variety of Velocity Dispersion Profiles of Galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Observed and simulated galaxies exhibit a significant variation in their velocity dispersion profiles. We examine the inner and outer slopes of stellar velocity dispersion profiles using integral field spectroscopy data from two surveys, SAMI (for z < 0 ...

The velocity dispersion among galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1981
The galaxies in the Revised Shapley-Ames redshift catalog, which is complete to Broughly-equal13, are used to determine the velocity dispersion in the local galaxy field (..nu..
