Velocity dispersion estimation

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2006, 2006
Summary In this work, we explore the feasibility of estimating velocity dispersion based on velocity analysis of pre-stack seismic data. We tested the methodology on a set of synthetic CMP gathers with different central frequencies. Pre-stack synthetic seismic data was generated from a model that consists of 509 homogeneous and isotropic layers and ...

Velocity dispersions in sandstones

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1987, 1987
Ultrasonic compressional (V,) and shear (V,) velocities were measured on 69 sandstone samples, at dried and watersaturated states under external confining pressure up to 50 MPa and internal pore pressure 1 MPa. Porosities of the samples ranged from 5 to 30 percent and volume clay content of the samples ranged from 0 to 50 percent.

The Velocity Dispersion And Dispersion Profile Of Abell 963

Symposium - International Astronomical Union, 1996
Abell 963 (z = 0.206) is still the best candidate for a true arc-counterarc lens configuration (Lavery & Henry 1988). A simple model explains the positions, lengths and patchy light distribution of the two arcs. Photometry indicates the arcs also have the same B-R color (Lavery & Henry 1988; Ellis et al. 1991).

Raman solitons with group velocity dispersion

Physical Review E, 2006
We consider the coupled propagation of the pump and Stokes waves in a Raman active medium accounting for the group velocity walk off and group velocity dispersion. Interplay of the Raman coherence and the dispersion can lead to the formation of a complete band gap in the spectrum of linear waves consisting of the two consecutive subgaps located at ...

Seed Dispersal Velocity in Four Dwarfmistletoes

Science, 1965
By means of a high-speed photographic technique, the initial velocities of seeds were studied as they were expelled from the fruits of four Colorado dwarfmistletoes: Arceuthobium douglasii , A. campylopodum f. cyanocarpum , A. vaginatum f.

Dispersion of 3D Velocity Estimators

EAGE/SEG Workshop - Depth Imaging of Reservoir Attributes, 1998
We study the dispersion of the estimators of a 3D velocity model in presence of white noise and with a limited range of azimuths available.

Dispersion of components in transport processes: Velocity dispersion model

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2005
This paper presents a new model of dispersion of components in transport processes. It is suggested that the flow velocity may be specified by a Gauss function with relative dispersion of flow velocity beta=sigmav/v; the overall dispersion of inert component (in porous as well as in homogeneous medium) may be calculated from the equation sigma=(2Dt ...
