We present a kinematic analysis of the globular cluster(GC) system in the giant elliptical galaxy (gE) NGC 4636 in the Virgo cluster. Using the photometric and spectroscopic database of 238 GCs, we have investigated the kinematics of the GC system.

Using globular clusters to test gravity in the weak acceleration regime: NGC 7099 [PDF]
A test of Newton's law of gravity in the low acceleration regime using globular clusters is presented. New results for the core collapsed globular cluster NGC 7099 are given.

Hydrodynamic dispersion is a measure for describing the process of solute transport in porous media. Characterizing the dispersion of water flow within gravel is essential for the prediction of solute transport especially nonpoint source pollutants ...

Virial mass in DGP brane cosmology
We study the virial mass discrepancy in the context of a DPG brane-world scenario and show that such a framework can offer viable explanations to account for the mass discrepancy problem.

Velocity dispersion estimates of APM galaxy clusters [PDF]
We present 83 new galaxy radial velocities in the field of 18 APM clusters with redshifts between 0.06 and 0.13. The clusters have Abell identifications and the galaxies were selected within 0.75 h$^{-1}$Mpc in projection from their centers.

Velocity dispersions in statistical lensing
The theoretical average line-of-sight velocity dispersion along the radius of a spherical galaxy or cluster of galaxies tends to a variable value. Statistical lensing studies often take into account only the asymptotic value, either close to the center or at large distances, rather than the full variation: this results in significant effects in lensing

Gaussian Process Methods for Very Large Astrometric Data Sets
We present a novel nonparametric method for inferring smooth models of the mean velocity field and velocity dispersion tensor of the Milky Way from astrometric data.

Velocity dispersion of correlated energy spread electron beams in the free electron laser
The effects of a correlated linear energy/velocity chirp in the electron beam in the free electron laser (FEL), and how to compensate for its effects by using an appropriate taper (or reverse-taper) of the undulator magnetic field, is well known.
