The Equivalence of the Lagrangian-Averaged Navier-Stokes-{\alpha} Model and the Rational LES model in Two Dimensions

open access: yes, 2011
In the Large Eddy Simulation (LES) framework for modeling a turbulent flow, when the large scale velocity field is defined by low-pass filtering the full velocity field, a Taylor series expansion of the full velocity field in terms of the large scale ...

Adult‐Onset Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis Presenting With Subacute Cognitive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We describe the case of a 41‐year‐old man diagnosed with adult‐onset subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE). The patient presented with subacute progressive cognitive deficits and a neuropsychological profile indicating predominant frontoparietal dysfunction. MRI showed only mild parietal‐predominant cerebral atrophy.

Disentangle plume-induced anisotropy in the velocity field in buoyancy-driven turbulence

open access: yes, 2011
We present a method of disentangling the anisotropies produced by the cliff structures in turbulent velocity field and test it in the system of turbulent Rayleigh-B\'{e}nard (RB) convection.

Cosmic velocity fields and their interpretation [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1998
We review the current status of our knowledge of cosmic velocity fields, on both small and large scales. A new statistic is described that characterizes the incoherent, thermal component of the velocity field on scales less than 2 h −1 Mpc ( h is H 0

Structure–Function Decoupling of the Sensorimotor and Default Mode Networks in Black Americans With MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...

Experimental Evaluation of Gas-Dynamic Conditions of Heat Exchange of Stationary Air Flows in Vertical Conical Diffuser

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Conical diffusers are widely used in technical devices (gasifiers, turbines, combustion chambers) and technological processes (ejectors, mixers, renewable energy).

The computation of the velocity field [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series B. Biological Sciences, 1984
The organization of movement in the changing retinal image provides a valuable source of information for analysing the environment in terms of objects, their motion in space, and their three-dimensional structure. A description of this movement is not provided to our visual system directly, however; it must be inferred from the pattern of changing ...

Multidimensional Profiling of MRI‐Negative Temporal Lobe Epilepsy Uncovers Distinct Phenotypes

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Although hippocampal sclerosis (TLE‐HS) represents the most frequent cause of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), up to 30% of patients show no lesion on visual MRI inspection (TLE‐MRIneg). These cases pose diagnostic and therapeutic challenges and are underrepresented in surgical series.

A Fine Velocity and Strain Rate Field of Present-Day Crustal Motion of the Northeastern Tibetan Plateau Inverted Jointly by InSAR and GPS

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
Interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) data from 6 Envisat ASAR descending tracks; spanning the 2003⁻2010 period; was used to measure interseismic strain accumulation across the Northeastern Tibetan Plateau.

Innate Immune Reprogramming Mediated by Endogenous Retroelement Dysregulation Drives Multiple Sclerosis Progression

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Epigenetic reprogramming in hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) and downstream myeloid cells, mediated by H3.3 downregulation and endogenous retroelement (ERE) overexpression, contributes to the progression of multiple sclerosis (MS). ABSTRACT Background Skewed myelopoiesis in the bone marrow has been identified as a key driver of multiple ...
